Problem VX6700 sounds like a Geiger counter

I have been having a problem with my phone, it keeps trying to reset the volume all the time. The result is that it sounds off like a Geiger counter and will not stop. I found this forum last week and thought maybe someone here can help me.

I have done a hard reset and I think I was able to do it without reloading all Verizon “stuff” the result is that the phone does it less often but it still does it 5-10 times a day. The only way to stop it is to press the button on the top left, turning off the screen backlight. It does not matter if I try to adjust the volume down with the slide switch as it just goes back to the max setting and beeps. It acts like someone is holding the slider in the upwards position. This phone has a mind of its own, even without touching the thing it will begin to sound off.

Any thoughts

Also…. should I still be getting the white Verizon start screen when I turn on my phone is the Verizon stuff was not loaded?

Ok, so at least 73 people have read this posting with no reply. I have two new questions

1) Has any else had this problem?
2) Does any one know how to take a VX6700 apart? At this point the phone is about junk anyway, so I am thinking maybe it is just a dirty slider switch. So nothing ventured nothing gained!
