Leaving Blackjack...Looking at 680 or 750

My wife has a Blackjack, and it freezes up pretty much every day. Is it safe to assume this is a WM5 issue?

Also, we are looking into getting her either a Treo 680 or Treo 750. Does the Palm OS have the same freezing issues ad does WM5? Also, is the Palm 750 WM5 the same as the BJ, and does it have freezing issues?

well of-course MS didn't design it to freeze up everyday so what has she installed on it that has caused it to do all that. If nothing then it's time to RMA the phone and get another, it's obviously having some problems.

I have a blackjack and no issues with it freezing with either WM5 or WM6.

Anyways, your question about POS have the same issue is answered by the above. Any operating system can come to a constant crash if the user messes it up. Computers are, well stupid. They can only do (for the most part) what the user wants them to do. So if the user says, "hey install this crap and yes i know it's crap" then the computer just says ok.

Input - Output. You input garbage you get out garbage.

I would tell her to go play with the phones at the store and see which she likes best. Also before all of that i'd at least upgrade the phone to the latest version of the software.

Search to see which has which and etc, but you got my answer!

I rarely, if ever, have a problem with my Blackjack freezing up (still running WM5). Your wife might just have a bad phone. You should look into doing a warranty exchange.

Sync it to the computer then hard reset it (restores it to factory defaults, removes everything) then resync the contacts back on.

Exactly. Well the Treo 750 is a brick. The Treo 680 is a brick. The Blackjack is the smallest, thinnest lightest querty smartphone on the market. I have had no freezing issue whatsoever, with WM5 or WM6. This is coming from a user who has owned all three. The Blackjack beats them hands down. Once you carry the Treo's around for a week or two, you'll be wanting that Blackjack back very, very, very, badly. Trust me.

I had a blackjack from nov till august and it was a decent phone. it did everything great but I did have at least 2 freezes a day. I only had opera and tcpmp running most of the time. and if it wasn't that the internet would completely stop working. so I switch to the treo 750 in august. its a very good phone for pretty much everything. I haven't reset it since the day I bought it.

I went through a couple of weeks reading post and trying to get info on size and functions for treo 750. I was kind od scared of buying it because everyone said it was a brick and randomly reboots itself. It all was pretty much false information. the treo fits better in my big hands and its functions very well. I guess everyone has very small hands and very tight pants because this phone is small, good size for me personally.

I've had my 750 since April and zero freezes. It's locked, I have not installed the WM6 rom, I have not done the HSDPA hack, the only registry tweak I have done is for the Calander to come up in month view a the default. The only odd thing that has happened is keygaurd got turned on by itself. I went into settings and it showed it was disabled. I tried turning it on and off but it would not turn off. I did a soft reset and everything was back to normal. That is the only issue in 5 months or so of use, it's a great phone!

Small Compared to what? A Moto brick phone maybe.

Actually I have very large hands(6-5 300lbs). I just don't like a phone where I have to look like I am wearing a huge computer when you put your shirt down or when wearing a suit the phone sticks out like a sore thumb. If not wearing a suit you have to carry with you another phone. Nothing says "NERD" like "look i am important because I wear a Treo 750" while wearing shorts and some flipflop. Try putting your Tshirt over a Treo with any Holster and you will look like you have a third "Ya Yo". With the Blackjack, you can't even see with a Tshirt. Or any shirt for that matter. With the Blackjack, you can't even see it when you are wearing it with a case, not so with the treo 750. Also the weight of the Treo 750 5oz compared to the Blackjack of 3.5 oz. is notice able when you want to just go into a meeting and not wear this big holster that sticks out like a sore thumb when you can just simply slip the Blackjack into your front pocket and no one will know it's even there. Tight pants, no bro, that brick you are carrying around will weigh down anyones pants. I know because I have owned both, with suits and casual wear. And my Blackjack is fine even with the leaked ROM. But to each their own. Just my experience.

To me the 8525 wasnt big at all. I can grip a basketball without even trying. THis phone is not as small as the blackjack or dash. Like I said I had it for damn near a year. I actually thought it was to small for me because of the way I had to set my fingers on the device. The Treo 750 is best for me because of its size I can just wrap my hands around it and do what I do. Im just happy that I didnt listen to everyone about the size, because the sidekick 2 was big as hell. This phone is a fraction compared to that, and Im happy with my choice. Loosen them pants up fellas! lol
