Considering switching from RIM to WM6, help me out

Hello everyone, I have been using a BlackBerry Pearl for quite some time, I enjoy the simplicity and feel for the devices, I was considering moving to the Blackberry Curve, but I now will be moving to a country that does not have BlackBerry service, just normal GPRS. I am now looking for a device that is very responsive and stable with not much lag or slowdown. What I would like is something that reliably checks my email, sends SMS, and allows for some web browsing. I would also like to be able to access the entire MS Office suite, and if I can edit it, that would be better.

I'm curently looking at the HTC S630, it has the BlackBerry feel physically, and seems to be quite snappy. But can someone here tell me what differences would I expect OS wise with a WM6 device from RIM?

thanks

Wirelessly posted (Nokia 6620: Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.0.8993/58; U; en))

Have you considered an S60 device?

Yeah S60 would be a much smoother transition. Just like their desktop operating systems, Windows Mobile (5 or 6.. moreso 6) is bloated, slow, and generally unresponsive. You'd cry yourself to sleep moving from blackberry to WM smartphone. Any time I actually need to use my blackjack (WM6) for something other than just calling someone, it pains me how gross the interface is and I go running back to my Treo 650.

thank you both so much, I think S60 is a better OS definitely, but their hardware isn't that great for what I want, I basically want:

1. Full QWERTY
2. NO Stylus (Or a phone with a stylus that doesn't have to be used to utilize 100% of the phone)
3. not too big of a design, the Nokia E61 is too wide for my hands and pockets.

I would consider a Treo Running Palm, but will I ever have to pull out the stylus to use it? I hate using stylus

thanks

With a treo running palm os (I love Palm OS so much, so sad that it hasn't been updated in forever) you barely actually need to use the stylus.. maybe if you are editing a large block of text.. even then, you could use the d pad if you choose to.

It's quite the transition from a Blackberry to a WM device. Really frustrating at times. I would go with either a Q9 Global- because the form factor is pretty much the same and the keyboard is excellent, like most Blackberries. Plus, it includes a watered down version of autotext- which is better than most other non-touch screen WM devices can say. It's also easy to "page down" and view web pages on a WM Standard device with one hand than a device running WM Professional. My next suggestion would be an i607 although its quickly becoming outdated. The keyboard will take some adjusting to as well.

Yeah I have the i607 and whenever I do a lot of texting or writing I feel the urge to go back to my treo 650. The blackjack keys are so hard to press! the keys are less cramped than on the treos but the hard to press buttons make it really slow to type on

It's a great phone (hardware).. if only it had a lightweight, speedy OS on it
