ADD RINGTONES REGARDLESS OF iTUNES 7.4.2

hi.

i just wanted to give a quick tip to people that have been saying that they cant use their custom ringtones anymore.

if this old, please go ahead and let me know. but i just noticed this, even though its always been there.

YOU MUST HAVE INSTALLED "SEND SONG" on their IPHONE.

WHEN YOU LAUNCH SEND SONG, IT SHOULD SHOW YOU ALL THE MEDIA(AUDIO) YOU HAVE.

FIND and CLICK ON ON A SONG(you can even have the songs you cut down and edited, just in case you didnt want the whole song for a ring tone)

WHEN YOU SELECT A SONG, A PROMPT COMES UP ASKING WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO...

SELECT "SEND TO RINGTONES"!!!

thats it!

NOW, to check...

GO TO SETTINGS>SOUNDS>RINGTONE>(your song should be in the list, mine was)

now... if you want to delete this song from the list..

use cyberduck to access library>ringtones>(should have the song in the folder) and then DELETE!

I hope this hasnt been posted...

Thanks for the tip, works great. You can actually remove the song from within sendsong as well. Clicking on the edit button in the top right corner takes you to your list of ringtones made with sendsong, you can delete from there.

If you don't want to jailbreak your phone and still want ringtones, iToner works very well.

All I did was ssh into the iPhone with WinSCP and explored to the directory that contained the existing ringtones and drag and dropped my mp3 ringtones. Didn't even need to reboot the phone.

It worked for me.

I have been using iphoneringtonemaker which works very well but have not updates itunes to the newest version for fear of losing the tones.
There is an update to iphoneringtonemaker that says if will restore the tones when re-synced, had anyone had this experience yet?

I posted this in a thread at one point, as it seems like it's not common knowledge. By far the easiest way to add ringtones IMO.

As I said before, you can use something like audacity to cut a song into a smaller ringtone if you want. Sync that piece of a song, copy it to ringtones, and then delete the piece of a song from your library. Simple as pie.

Pretty sure iBrickr causes you to have to restore your phone when updating to the latest firmware though.

Correct me if im wrong, but this method requires no third party app to be installed on the phone and you just copy the ringtone into a folder correct?

I ask because I would like to add a ringtone just like or as close to the method using itunes and buying the ringtone without having to open an itunes account.

I did the old renaming renaming again method, but I haven't plugged in my iPhone to iTunes in a while... nothing's wrong, so I'm just gonna stick with it for now

I tried this when I first read it and it worked flawlessly. Now it isn't working...??????????????

I haven'y loaded the newer itunes yet either.
