GREAT PHONE! BRAND NEW IN BOX AND ALL USB CORDS, CHARGER, AND INSTRUCTION BOOKLET AND A ONE YR. WARRANTY!!

v3xx I won on ebay arrived today. What I got was a slightly used phone with no usb cable, no box, no manual and no battery cover.

It is AT&T branded.

It appears to have the camera above keypad. Did US v3xx's have a internal camera?

What differences between a v3xx and a lesser v3 model could I use to distinguish if it is indeed a v3xx?

oh, and what should the "been wet" indicator under the battery look like.

What was the feedback rating of the person you bought it off of ? I would put in a complaint and leave negative feedback.
They item you recieved clearly isnt as described.

On the V3xx (the 3 that I had), they are white with a grid of small red dots or little red plus signs.

Posted by: Fiasco

this phone has little a red plus sign pattern.

Posted by: bigb252

The battery indicator under the battery should be white.

I think the old V3's were white.
My V3xxs all had white circles with red + pattern or red dot pattern.

I'm hoping you paid through PayPal so that you can file a claim to get your money back. The phone is clearly not new, apparently has water exposure and who-knows-what-else wrong with it.

Posted by: Baldilocks

Wow! Not even a picture of the phone??? Wow!!

Posted by: ptsmalls

He had an auction end last week for a Playstation. Person left good feedback (not sure why) but he didnt included items he stated in the auction.

Posted by: Fiasco

Yea, I paid through paypal and I switched my funding for this particular transaction to come off my Visa card instead of out of my regular funds.

His positive feedback rating is grossly inflated by selling low ticket items (used clothes). His feedback was only a 7 when I initially bid.

Item pictures are worthless unless the seller is honest in the first place.

Posted by: netboy

good move that u paid with credit card! call your credit card, they should give back your money!

Yeah, it's always a good idea to do Paypal through a Visa or MC. Then you have real protection, even when Paypal "protection" lets you down.

In this case the seller says there is a money back guarantee if shipped back within 3 days. The buyer should probably pursue that first.

Posted by: Fiasco

what a load of BS. I cant do a snad report until 10 days after the auction.

Posted by: Wrangler3383

Moving to the regular phone subforum.

Actual pictures are 10000% the key to getting above average ending prices for anything you sell on ebay.

Have you even attempted to contact the seller about the problem yet?

Same here I just sold a v3xx on ebay and even though I didn't have my digicam working at the moment I used a cell phone camera to take the pictures.

And my feedback it's only 12

Posted by: celtictech

The seller had a 3 day return policy if item not as described. I would have contacted him right away, if that went nowhere I would file a complaint through paypal. Good job you used you credit card at least you can still go that route.
Good Luck.... I hope you get your money refunded soon!

You'll get it higher, just keep being honest and you won't have any problems.

My feedback is 75 and 100% positive. I have a good mixture of buying and selling on there. It would be higher, but you'd be surprised how many people don't leave feedback.

I'll let you guys know what happens at the conclusion.

Is there any easy way to find out if this phone has been used before (by imei number).

Is there any menu option to see how many hours or usage is on the phone?

Would I be out of line going to a cingular store and asking one of the guys there to write out an evaluation of the phone I received?

The seller is an all caps typer with extremely bad grammar/spelling making the dispute mildly amusing. The seller is sticking to her guns that this is a brand new never used phone and that if she doesn't get a brand spanking new phone back she won't refund my money. She claims the IMEI has never been registered therefor the phone could have never been used before.

In all probability I will send this phone back and she will claim that it's either not what she sent me or that the condition degraded (seriously seriously degraded) while I had it.

Oh the irony.

That's the eBay Game. You leave unfavourable feedback and you will get it in return.

As to paying with a credit card via PayPal, that's a good idea in theory, but I have noticed that many eBay sellers require "immediate payment," which means that the funds need to come directly from your PayPal deposited funds or demand account at your registered bank.

Can't say that I blame them, really.

Dispute the charge on your card right away and send it back if you don't want it. Make sure you send it with a delivery confirmation. Preferable with a signature release. Have you checked out the lifetime timer? If it is a new phone the life timer should be very very low if not zero if it is truly new.

Posted by: Fiasco

I'm unfamiliar with the v3xx where is the lifetime timer at?

I pretty much have this seller on the hook. The item shipped in a 4 x 8 cardboard photo envelope and the seller says that she put in

phone
battery
battery cover
manual
cdrom
usb cord
wall charger

Thats quite a lot to stuff in an 4 x 8 flat envelope.

Now, despite the quantum physics involved in stuffing a flat cardboard envelope with all that stuff the seller neglected to take into consideration that first class mail is based on weight.... by the ounce to be exact.

For kicks I took the original envelope and put what the seller actually sent to me in it and went to the post office to price sending it first class back to the seller. The total came out to be exactly what was printed on the first class stamp (go figure) when the seller sent it to me. The seller also claims to have purchased tracking confirmation so that she knew "When I received it". Also not true, obviously by the price and secondly by the lack of the tracking tag.

The seller is pissed about the negative feedback and is trying to "strike back" at me by claiming non-existant stuff which must be returned w/ the "new" phone in order to get my refund, apparently to dense to know that the first class postage price she paid dictates the weight of the package she actually sent.

Obviously when the time comes to send it back, she will claim that it either isn't the same phone, is damaged or scratched up and now used, or that all of the stuff she sent didn't come back with it.

Basically, I have her caught in a string of E-Bay messages containing one lie after another... all of which I have very real evidence to prove she is repeatedly lying.

How heavy/big is the v3xx manual. Just a USB cord and cd-rom w/ no case raised the postage by over 40 cents when added to the package.

Do not waste time contacting your credit card company. Do it sooner than later.

ebay is a pain. good luck.

Without a tracking number they cannot prove you received it. In addition, if you ship something and the person wants to be dishonest they can claim non receipt without a signature or personal delivery. Just because a tracking number claims delivery it does not mean the person received it. The seller has no leg to stand on. I would dispute it right away and then send it back if the phone is no good. The lifetime timer is in your timer list at the bottom. If the phone is a v3xx it should say "Main Menu" on the upper right under the clock. The v3r etc did not say this. Go into "Main Menu" and look for recent calls and click on this, then go down through the list to "lifetime timer" and you will see if the phone is new. Recent calls should on the ATT branded v3xx be on the upper right of the screen after hitting the menu button. You can reset the timers of all but the lifetime timer and I suspect the seller would not have the knowledge to reset that timer either. Good luck.
