are there any GSM phones available that are similar to the nextel phones that you can give a pretty good beating. camera isnt important. quadband would be nice and PTT is a must. the phone will be used on ATT and i know about the v365 i was just hoping there would be something a little more durable.

PTT on GSM is a rarity. In fact, I think the only company that has the set-up that AT&T has is AT&T. I had an LG CU400 which had AT&T's PTT system installed on it, and even had a dedicated button. The phone was pretty durable, but I hated it (many quirks, including handling file transfers for BlueTooth, and unacknowledged reminders from the calendar would prevent other alarms from going off). On the plus side, it's armed with UMTS, it's relatively inexpensive, its front casing is made of aluminum, and can last a couple days without charging, even with BlueTooth turned on. The keypad takes some getting used to, and it's got 12 MB of on-board memory. AT&T is selling it with a 2 year contract for about $10 as a media phone, but they might have replaced it with the LG CU500 by now.
