iPhone screen is made of what material?

Would there be a chance of the iPhone screen cracking?
What material is it made of? acrylic?

Since it's a touch screen, it is probably made of thinner material than non-touch screen devices?

When you press the middle of the screen with a little pressure, does it move in? Or is it hard as a rock?

The screen is made of glass. Several website reviewers have done durability tests on the screen in particular and the phone in general. google is your best friend.

I've seen videos of people taking keys, razors, safety pins, and dropping it on concrete without causing it to scratch or shatter. Of course it's glass, so breaks are bound to happen, but the iPhone has turned out to be one tough little cookie.

According to apple its optical glass. Its very very tough to scratch obviously, we have a demo at my at&t store and some coworkers and my self tried for a good five minutes to scratch it ...finally we did so its clearly not unscratchable like the crystal saphire on my watch (which can only be scratched by a diamond) but it is tough as hell!

The glass is made by Corning Incorporated. It was created as a replacement for automotive glass by corning inc some 10+ years ago but it was to hard to use in the automotive industry because of its hardness (no give when used as a windshield). Corning inc. sat on it and when Apple began looking for new glass after they first demoed the iPhone, Corning stepped to the plate and introduced this glass.

If you think I'm full of it I can find several people to vouch for me including the son of one of the guys who worked on the project, he had a piece of the glass that he showed everyone while we were waiting in line that faithful night.

P.S. I live in Elmira NY less than 20 miles from Corning NY, so I'm not BSing anyone.
