Apple plans to Release a 3G/GPS iPhone next year

Reports have just been released regarding a new version of the iPhone to be released next year. Apple's iPhone is one of the coolest device to come out this year, but users have to admit that it lacks functionalities that are otherwise standard to other phone brands. This may be the reason why Apple is planning to release a faster third-generation, or 3G iPhone, available sometime in the first quarter.

The new iPhone should help quiet critics who were unimpressed by the 2.5G EDGE technology the first version used. Even though rumors have been milling around, Apple still declined to comment. The two biggest complaints about the iPhone were the high prices and slow network connections. Earlier this month, Apple slashed the iPhone price by 33% -- a move that seems to have spurred some demand.

The new 3G iPhone is expected to include features like global positioning for navigation services. In fact, sources say Apple has tapped Broadcom's Global Locate unit to supply chips for the phone.

Good thing there isn't already this exact same thread with the exact same title because that would just make this one pointless.
