Has anyone had problems with the tray that the sim card fits in?

I got a phone back the other day, and when I put my sim card in it, it wouldn't read it. I eventually saw that I had service hours later. I tried plugging it into my computer and it would not read that my iphone was plugged in. I believe I have read that people have had problems with the actual tray not reading the sim but I wanted to make sure that was correct.
(I have also tried using another brand new sim) and still had the same problems!

did you try restarting the phone after you put in another SIM? It's not really made for hotswapping SIMs I think. I mean, you can, of course, but you can't always expect it to instantly recognize and go on with the new SIM.

I guess Apple didn't expect people to be constantly swapping SIMs - also evidenced by the fact you need an extra tool to open up the tray.

I dont understand what you are trying to say?? sorry.

I got my "replacement" iphone in the mail from apple and the same day I put my sim card in that I was using in the loaner phone and it said no service at the top. I then thought maybe AT&T was having service problems in my area so i called and they werent aware of any. I was in my house so I wasnt in an odd area because I have previously ALWAYS gotten service in my house. My mom has an iphone as well, so this is where I took her sim card after about 3 hours of my phone saying NO SERVICE and I tried sticking hers in my phone and it still continued to say NO SERVICE on my phone, and when I put MY original sim in her phone just to make sure it was not my sim it worked and had full bars. So i figured there was something going on to where it wasnt reading the sim in some kind of way. Its hard to explain, but thats the best way I can explain it.

My first iPhone start exhibiting this problem after 2 days. I was getting sporadic "No SIM card installed" messages, which in turn would lose phone and internet service. After doing a hard reset and a system restore, the phone was fine for another day, but then the problem came back up.

Long story short, I ended up getting a replacement at the Apple store. Haven't had any issues with the new one.

thanks! yeah, since I do not live near an apple store I am sending my phone in tomorrow for repair/replacement. I hope they just give me a new phone, because mine was also giving me the message saying "no sim card installed". Thanks for the info!

Check and make sure its not bent. I had some unusual network errors because my tray was bent. I fixed it with some pliers. I ended up bending it (forgot to take it out) when I opened it up to do a hardware unlock.

I hope they give you a new phone too. The "long story short" of my post omitted the fact that I sent my phone in for a repair. I got it back in a week with their report saying "Could not reproduce error". So instead of replacing it, they just sent it back to me. I had it for less than an hour before the message popped back up. I ended up making the hike to an Apple store to get it replaced.

Best of luck!

well my phone went back to them today, so assuming they get it tomorrow and start to work on it we will see. I will keep yall updated on what happens! thanks for all the info!

*I did check the tray before i sent it off and it was slightly bent, but I didnt want to fool with it before I sent it off, hopefully they see the problem!
