Nokia N75 or 6555

I'm not sure if I should get the 6555 or the N75. I used to think that the N75 was not stereo bluetooth, but apparently it is.

Things that are important:

I will be using this as a PDA, so I'm wondering about the smaller screen on the 6555 compared to the N75. I will be viewing items (notes, calendar items) way more than typing new ones in, so the screen is more important than the keypad. I've also heard reports about slowness on the N75, since it is S60, while the 6555 is Series 40. I don't plan on using any fancy applications--the only thing I'd really like to do is add a hot key for the voice memo feature. I don't think I can do this on the S40, but I don't want to pay a huge penalty in speed just opening a Note or the Calendar just so I can hot-key the voice recorder. I'm also taking a moderate huge risk and assuming that I'll be able to get it to sync with Microsoft Entourage (on a Mac), with the help of iSync and the Missing Sync. I'm pretty sure the S60 syncs pretty well with Macs, but I'm not sure about the S40.

Internet speed isn't important--if anything, I'll check a traffic web site every couple months.

The final thing that I'm not sure about is music playback/control. I will be using this to play music in my car (once I get a new bluetooth-enabled car stereo). In this case, the N75 seems more attractive as it has the outside media controls, while the 6555 you have to press keys on the keypad with the phone open (wherever they are, I can't find the play/forward/backward keys pictured in the 6555 manual anywhere in the "about this phone" section).

Does anyone know if, when I'm playing music via bluetooth to my car stereo, can I control next/previous/pause/stop stuff from the car stereo controls? In the 6555 manual, in the bluetooth area it mentions that has support for "audio/video remote control profile". Is that what allows it to be controlled by the buttons on the car stereo?

I'm located in NJ, and will be buying through AT&T. If anyone has any other suggestions, I really prefer flip phones (hate the unlock keys thing).

Thanks all

The N75 is a performer but if build quality is important, keep looking.

I'm either getting a Vertu, Luna, or Scirocco.

I'm pretty sure it DOES NOT have the A2DP profile or Stereo Bluetooth... the 6555 does, so if that's what's most important to you than I'd go with the 6555... also the 6555 is newer so it's probably better... and it looks cooler, I think... it's got a nice screen too (don't they have the same specs?)...
yeah, the AVRCP profile is needed to control your phone from another device... your car stereo has bluetooth built in?... how'd you get that?... is that stock or did you install the stereo separately?...

The N75 does have A2DP but AT&T firmware version disable that. You have to get the phone unlocked/unbranded with a generic firmware to regain A2DP.

Anyway I would go for the 6555 since you don't need the functionalities of a S60 phone.

No, my car stereo doesn't have bluetooth built in... :-) I am in need of a new stereo anyway (currently have radio + cassette player). I was googling for car stereos, and found that some of them are bluetooth, and so I was conjecturing that perhaps if you are sending bluetooth from the phone to/thru the car stereo, maybe the I could do the pause/play/next-ing from the car stereo controls instead of the phone. (I'm worried about losing the external music controls if I go with the 6555).

Dude... Dude... you gotta get the 6267 then man... it has EVERYTHING you're looking for... I might get it myself one of these days too... it has external music controls + stereo bluetooth + it's cheaper than the N75... it's pretty f*ckin' cool I think... check out cti-miami.com... they're selling it pretty cheap... you might also wanna consider the 6290 although it doesn't support A2DP... you only like Nokias or what?... you know motorola phones also have stereo bluetooth... W510 or MaxxV6?... those are my fav's... you should make sure your car stereo supports STEREO bluetooth too, and not just regular bluetooth for taking calls or some bullsh*t like that...

How do you know this?... where does it say that?... if that's true, than that's pretty cool... walmart.com's selling unlocked N75's... if it has A2DP then I'd consider getting one... where are you getting your info?... and why would AT&T block a cool feature like that?...

My unbranded/unlocked Nokia N75 has A2DP. The UI performance of an unbranded N75 is twice that of the Cingular/AT&T branded N75.

The 6555's screen is just WAY to small. 2.0" vs. 2.4"... that is a LOT of real estate to give up.

I have no problem with the build quality of the N75. It's built just as well as any other NSeries phone from Nokia. Sure, its not as solid as my Razr2 V8, but hey, it's still a great smartphone.

Because AT&T is anal. You can't even upgrade firmware using NSU if your phone is AT&T branded.

If that's true then I might consider getting one... it's a little pricey at $400 but it's a pretty kick-*ss phone... the only thing I didn't like about the AT&T one was the lack of A2DP...
BTW isn't it true that the 6290 and N76 don't have A2DP?...
Baldi<--- are you gonna get the unlocked V9 now that it's been released too?...

Dunno about the V9. I might get one, never know!

I think the newer AT&T Branded N75 might have it.
