Anyone SIM upgrade to 256kb/512k/1GB SIMs?

Anyone have success in upgrading a their SIM cards to larger capacities on the AT&T network? I'm not talking about the 64k Cingular junk, I'm talking about SIM cloning/backup to a new, larger 750+ phonebook entry SIM.
If so, I have a few questions:
- does SIM data backup include carrier settings? I heard some SIM cloning techniques may be destructive of the original SIM.
- does AT&T/Cingular/Whatevertheycallthemselvesnow do anything to prevent this from happening?
Apologize if this was already posted, search is crapping out on me.
