u740 or vx8500

i will be getting a new phone soon, but am on a budget. i have narrowed it down to 2 free phones: u740 or vx8500. are there any recommendations as to which one i should pick? i like the chocolate's slide form but dislike its bulky size. the u740 seems good but the buttons are too small. i will just be using the phone or calls, music, and sporadic txting. any advice is appreciated
