8525 Question

When buying an HTC 8525, is there anything specific I need to look out for? Are there different versions out there? Would it be a wiser choice (better bang for buck, better software) to go with the unbranded model? Is it hard to unlock and flash with low failure rate? Is there a better phone of the same price?
must have wifi, bluetooth, internet cap. (youtube and orb is a must), open source, 3G!, has to be totallly modable really...
some links to dedicated sites teaching me how to mod it with differnet softwares n utilities would b nice. PM me if this is not allowed.
