E-Mail On BB Curve

I just purchased a BB 8320 - Curve from T-Mobile. They have a $10. mail option. Is there a way to get e-mails without subscribing to this plan?

AFAIK, you cannot get push e-mail service without a data plan of some sort. You can however use your wifi to access certain e-mails regularly by going to their individual site (gmail, yahoo, etc...).

GMail is a little particular however; you cannot download the program and get it to connect without the data plan--you can however goto gmail.com and login manually.

Balckberry "push" email requires a Blackberry plan.

Why in the world would you buy a phone like the Blackberry Curve without having a data plan? It's an expensive phone so cost shouldn't be the driving factor there.

Are you trying to just do texting and no internet or email?

$10 is a bargain IMHO for Blackberry email without internet. Try getting that $10 deal at ATT.

People might have the same reason when they purchased Pearl. They did not know what they needed; and they just thought.. "WOW.. new wifi phone.. I want it.."

Actually, with a minutes plan the Unlimited Blackberry Data Plan is $20, a damn good deal for email, web, and whatnot. All that's missing is an SMS plan if you use them alot.

I don't care if the e-mail is pushed to me. Can I pull e-mail from various accounts without subscribing to to a BlackBerry plan with T-Mobile? I don't care about the $ 10.00/month I just wanted to know if it can be done.

Blackberry mail is strictly push, and requires a Blackberry data plan.

Can not be done. RIM controls all data access to the BB.

What you can do is install the stand-alone GMail app and get your GMail that way, without the dedicated Blackberry Data Plan. You'll still need some kind of WAP data access, and it only works for email providers that have their own stand-alone program.

People like me. I use my ATT Blackberry 8800 full data plan for business, and my T-Mo Curve w/out data (but with H&H) for personal use; it kind of balances out with the unlimited calling. I need both phones for business purposes as I'm in the telecom industry.
