I have a Verizon Motorola e815 on which the contract has expired. The local Alltel store said they could not activate it. I searched and saw some methods for changing other models from Alltel to Verizon but none for Verizon e815 to Alltel. The procedure for the other phones looked difficult and had a big potential for causing a lot of problems. Should I visit some other stores or is there an easier way than the flashes with all the mods?
I found this thread but it looks like it is for those wanting to use Alltel software but Verizon for service.

I know I am a newb but I read the stickies, searched the forums and I still can't find a good answer (or understand, anyway). Is there something else I need to do beforeI get some help from the board? I only want to remove the verizon information and install Alltel's so that they will activate the phone.

Can I simply flash with one of the monster files? What of verizon's ware will remain and what must I do to fix it? Do I have to do anything before I flash or does it wipe the old before installing the new.

its hard to do.....
i had a v710 that was vzw that i flashed with alltel firmware, took it to the alltel store where a friend of mine there tried to flash it again. the flash was successful on their PC, but the phone wouldnt activate on the network. and still had verizon logos (GIN, etc).
if you look hard enough, there are logos that you can flash to the phone...i cant remember where i found them. i just forgot about it since it didnt work....
but i later switched to cingular!
