I'm thinking about getting one of the new curve's, but I have read a couple of articles @ Crackberry about people's WiFi crashing on the new Curve! Supposedly once you go to transfer from a new blackberry it wipes the wifi out and you have to do a reset. Has anyone on here experienced or heard of this?? Please post your experiences and possibly remedies if any have been found...

Transfer, as in ringtones, music, that sort of thing? I haven't had any of those problems with UMA being wiped out, everything's working great.

No i've been reading if you try to switch devices on the desktop software. I.E. going from a pearl to a curve that it wipes your wifi and you can't get it back without doing a full hard reset. I'm asking if anyone has experienced this, because I also read today that the entire state of California does not have working WiFi UMA until October 22nd!!! Both of these issues are raising major red flags for me. Go to www.crackberry.com to read more on this topic. Read the editors review of the new curve to read about the wifi problems as well. Please if anyone out there has experienced this post on here.

Oh, okay, I just have one Curve and it's my first BB Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing some posts about that on crackberry.com, but I didn't read too deep into them, I hope you guys can get it fixed soon!

As for WiFi UMA not working in CA, I believe it's only in parts of SoCal that it's not, UMA is functioning normally up here in NorCal.

I think the problem is that if you use the transfer device wizard (or whatever it's called), that it copies some files that overwrite the wifi settings.

This seems easily solved by wiping the device and doing a selective restore.

I don't use the transfer device wizard as I'm on BES and that seems to backup/restore everything that I need.

http://www.blackberryfaq.com has some FAQs about the initial setup of a BlackBerry. It doesn't "crash WiFi" - but it stops voice over WiFi (UMA).

If you follow the steps laid out in the FAQ, UMA works fine. Just don't do a full backup and restore from another BlackBerry. That will prevent UMA from working.

As long as you do a selective restore, like contacts, bookmarks, profiles etc You should be cool. But just dont copy services books, or service selector....

Yes, but it would be nice to do a complete copy from another blackberry and not have to worry about it ruining the UMA! Obviously RIM will be coming up with a patch for this??
