Ok. I upgraded and I lost all my apps and stuff. When i checked my ringtones it was still listed as one of the custom ones. However when i went into the list it was not there and it switch to Miramba. Well I had some contacts that had custom ringtones of there own that I never checked. They dont show up in the ringtone list. However. 1 of those just called me and the custom ringtone worked!. Appears it is still on the phone just not selectable.

It still works on one of my phones but not the other.

So did you guys update your iphone software but not your itunes software? That's what I am curious about, if I update just the iphone software but not itunes, can I still use the mp4/mpa or whatever it was for getting my own custom ringtones on the phone. Or does the iphone software disable those as well? Thanks for any clarity.

I updated the iPhone but not iTunes and I still have custom ringtones. My husband did the same thing I did, but he lost his custom ringtones.

Ok, so it sounds like a phone by phone deal, some keep them some don't. Can you add more if you want to after the update the same way you did before?

Apparently, you can NOT update to 1.1.1 if you DO NOT update iTunes.

At least, I couldn't. So if you want 1.1.1, you're gonna pretty much lose your ringtones.

That's not true. I'm on 7.4.1 and my iPhone is currently on 1.1.1. I updated last night. No problems at all.

I had 7.4 and it found and installed the update. However, it ended up doing the custom ringtone "show up but not play/work" issue several people already experienced.

This is not true. I know it was mentioned before, but this is false. I just updated to 1.1.1 while running iTunes 7.2. I too did lose my tones although they did show up on iBrickr, I lost the capability to have them display in the list.

So i'm still on 7.4.0 and after upgrading to 1.1.1 my ringtones still show but do not play.
I never though i would start HATING apple. But i do now. They became microsoft..

As of right now, STILL on iTunes 7.4.0.28 and unlocked 1.0.2.

iTunes STILL reports that 1.0.2 is the current version!

exactly the same thing that happened to mine.....my ringtones are still there but not listed on the ringtone section...
