iPhone, Syncing, and Outlook 2003

My boss has a laptap, using Windows XP, all up to date, uses Outlook 2003. After syning the iPhone (syncing Calender and Contacts, not email accounts now, though he used to), he goes into Outlook, clicks any folder and gets:
Unable to display folder. Another application closed unexpectedly while using your Personal Folders file 'C:\Documents and Settings\name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst'. To prevent potential damage to your Personal Folders file, it will not be available until you close all applications currently using it.
Anyone else run into this? I tried searching here and other places, but ran empty. Thanks.
