hey

Im new to this forum and i just have a couple questions concerning the iphone and i have a friend in Detroit who is picking me up an 8gb iphone and i wanted to know if it had 1.1.1 firmware installed could i still activate it using the jailbreak or some other method and use the other features such as the ipod on it but not the phone?

also what are the chances that the 1.1.1 firmware is pre installed on the iphones in the apple store already? specifically in the Detroit, Michigan area.

if you have read around this forum, and news sites like engadget and gizmodo, you would have learned that current activation, unclock and jailbreak programs do not work with 1.1.1. so if you buy a phone that has 1.1.1 you will be stuck with a very expensive paperweight for a while.

And yes, there have been many repots of phones purchased since Thursday coming from Apple stores with 1.1.1 installed already.
