Flash Disaster! GD87 dead

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Well i just tried to follow the instructions to flash the firmware to A39 and now i have one dead GD87. WinModo just sat at the signalling screen and wasn't doing anything so i picked the phone up and unplugged the data cable, then panicked when i turned the phone over and the front lcd had GD87 Loader 1.4 Erasing Sectors on it!!
Phone won't turn on now, tried to reflash it but can't get anywhere at all.
So i guess thats it, phone is finished. Gonna have to make a call to CRC on Tuesday and plead ignorant. Reckon they'll believe me if i say just came to turn the phone on and nothing happened?

Sorry to hear about that...I guess that's the risk we all have to take when flashing our own phones...Did you try reflashing it again..to see it would work?

What I meant to "reflashing" was that since you tried reflashing once already, did you try another time after that?

Yeah i tried it again but looks like since it was unplugged while erasing the bios then its dead. I can't turn it on so WinModo doesn't get past signalling again, supposed to turn it on at that point.

Bummaz!!! I hope that someone else can help you at a time like this...I wish I worked for Panasonic...I would fix your GD for you for free...

Had you flashed from A16/A19 to A22 before this or did you just go straight to A39?

Hey try this: i only reflashed once (i experienced the phone NEVER switching on again)

Right now, your mobile phone will never come on is that right.
ok put the battery in (what i did) plug the cable in the phone and wait for the signalling press and hold the power button. hopefully a signal may be executed.

Unfortunately i've already tried that a couple of times with no luck.

It was on A21 before i tried to goto A39

If WinModo won't recognise the phone there is no way back to A22 I guess. Does CB2000 recognise the phone?

No, it fails to open Comms to the phone because it won't turn on.

when it says "signalling", you were suppose to tap the power button of gd87 so the winmodo can detect the phone

Yes i know that but what im saying is, WinModo didn't actually display anything other than Signalling even though it was doing something which is what led me to believe nothing was happening even though the sub lcd had Erasing Sectors on it (I had the phone open so didn't notice that until it was too late)

It should have displayed
Signalling...
Changing Protocol...
Protocol Response received...
Image File Model Number Matches...
etc, etc

Just phone CRC and play the 'I don't have a clue about phones, it just died' role! It works every time!

Thats what im gonna do on Tuesday, think i'll even skip the wait for the special delivery bag from them to return it and just pay for postage myself!! need the phone back asap

is that all you have to do. Phone them, explain your plight and they'll send you a jiffy bag to return the handset to them?

I had a problem with my Panasonic GD67 which would reset itself if you had more than 10 sms messages in the inbox and tried to send another one. So i phoned them up, gave all the details and 2 days later a special delivery bag arrived with a covering letter giving instructions on what to do. Package the phone up (preferably in the original box) and send it back to them in the prepaid bag.
Im assuming it'll be the same drill for returning the 87 to them.
