Anti-Virus for 8525

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am currently using the 30day free trial of F-Secure anti virus for my 8525.
They are going to want me to pay the 35$ for the program at the end of the trial. 35 seems a little expensive for my taste, but then again it includes auto-updates...

But still..
anyone know of a free anti-virus program that will work on my 8525.

I can't see that you need one. There have been no virus attacks on PDAs or BBs that I am aware of. That isn't to say there won't be in the future, however. But I think it is a waste of money right now.

That doesnt answer my question, and I was asking if there were any free ones people knew about. Im not paying the 35$ in the first place.

If I were to get a virus, at&t wouldn't give a crap since I didn't buy mine through them. I rather have something on there.

Best place to find out since you have money to waste is Handango.com.

Also check here: http://www.freefunfiles.com/softwar...-antivirus.html

Also do a search on Google. Several listed there

there is really no point in getting a anti virus program for your PDA because there is no reason for hackers to go into your phone... generally to a lot of people the PDA only hold a bunch of useless information...

Quick Google search came up with nothing. I don't think anyone would offer a free client for such a small user base

lmao antivirus for our phones, I would never do that

Its not even that, many companies are starting to use Windows based mobile devices. For the admins at these companies its worth protecting yet another Windows based device that has any kind of access to a private network. A small niche is there and the big anti-virus software makers cater to that, I mean for them its more licenses sold. But because its a small niche, its not profitable to make it free, Avast offers free Home licensed anti-virus software and offers the Pro version for a price, yet they only offer the "Pro" version for Pocket PC.

And there are people targeting the mobile community, I remember about a year ago the Symbian OS got hit with a worm. Its not that common, but it does happen.

I have decided not to log onto sites with my Dash where if the password were stolen, I would be in ds. At least, until I can figure out why these devices should be unattractive targets. They have cookies, they have keystrokes, and they don't have firewalls or a/v software. Perhaps this is overly cautious, but when I saw my car dealer's waiting room computers were set to store passwords, I decided to play it safe anywhere I could. Same reason I would never log onto my corporate PC with a bank password, or ebay, or similar. Do that and the entire lan department has enough to easily steal your identity or drain your bank account.

Paranioa strikes deep.... into your heart it will creep.

No, there is not one to my knowledge. The reason there isn't one is because the ONLY purpose of AV software on Windows Mobile is to suck money out of the pockets of corporate users and people who are over cautious. There are only two pieces of malware for Windows Mobile, and neither is found in the wild. There is no virus danger for Windows Mobile.

It's been a year since the last post here about mobile and smart phone virus protection. Any news or current need for anti virus software for mobile?

That is your fraking opinion and that's it.

Kapersky Anti Virus says otherwise, as do the LISTS OF WINDOWS SMARTPHONE/PDA CELL PHONE AND BLUETOOTH TARGETED VIRUSES THAT ARE ON THE INTERNET.

ANyways, i bought Kapersky antivirus mobile for $30, well cheaper as I use their PC virus and got a deal, ($22 or so)

ha, didnt even notice that.

None the less, if one doesn't have $30 so spend then don't bother, not a huge deal i don't think. I certainly don't NEED it, but i got it anways so I can be cool.

As was said, more businesses are using windows based devices, and general cellphone users are being pushed heavely into the smartphone world. Sensitive information can be on many peoples devices.

Anyone who says there won't be a need is an idiot, unless windows has miraculously made an amazing OS (:O) and it will never ever ever be targeted because it's so amazingly good.

I'm sure some joker in a pub back in the day said "computers? antivirus? LOL silly idea who needs that?"
