no offense op, really. But every few days or so someone puts up a thread about what we'd want in the next update. We've been seeing this thread repeated over and over since launch. And ya know what we've got? Security updates and bug fixes. That's it. You can hope for iChat as much as you want, just don't get your hopes up when the next update is a simple security update with a few tweaks here and there. Ive stopped expecting any new features and come to reality.

5. A2dp

Of course when the iPhone was annouced they said it would come with A2dp. Imagine my surprise on June 29 when I opened it up and it didn't have A2dp!

Nothing but an "iWish" thread...

I don't recall them ever saying it had A2DP (streaming stereo audio over Bluetooth, plus playback control).

But I agree with everyone here - we've had numerous "I wish" and "I want" threads, and at this pace - 3 months and we're at 1.1.1 with only one new icon many aren't too crazy for - how many people are going to start dropping off the board and sell their iPhone for something better?

IMHO, the iPhone is the best mobile device ever designed to date - excellent size, design, convergence, user interface - but the people behind it are so closed-minded that this factor may actually end up being its downfall. Its features are hardly exploited... Bluetooth 2.0+EDR for what, a mono headset? No tethering, no syncing, no A2DP? No games, no task/to-do list, no iChat? Desktop-class application like Mail that can't delete or move more than one item at a time? Is everything going to have to be iTunes-approved, and revenue generating?

It's only a matter of time when some other manufacturer or software developer puts together an interface just as intuitive - i.e. what if Microsoft came up with a totally revamped UI for WM7 or even as an overlay to WM6, or RIM came out with their first touch-screen Blackberry? Maybe a Creative version of iPhone? Or Nokia with their slick and powerful smartphones just one step behind. And with nearly everyone else with an open development platform, what then, Apple?

I hope that FSJ is talking some truth to the normal humor he puts on his blog. (Fake Steve Jobs is claiming an upcoming iPhone SDK, read here) That will be the only saving grace for Apple at this point. Many are not too happy right now, and I hope they know it.

Oh what the heck I will throw in my 2cents.

1. An option that when safari closes it erase's cookie, history, and cache.

2 Chat program that talks to AIM, MSN, YAHOO, ICQ, and any others I maybe missing.

3 An Email client that is more supportive of the POP accts .

ok, let me humor you guys

1.) MMS (don't really care about it but it's funny to send someone a dirty picture a shock them)

2.) better ipod controls (done!)

3.) louder txt msg sounds (done!)

4.) 3G (and 3G support in my area would help this endeavor)

5.) nothing

I really don't have a wishlist on these things because regardless it's not going to make a difference how many times I post about it on howardforums.com it's not going to happen until someone sends their request on the feedback area of apple.com

Lets make a thread on what we want for Christmas next. I got 2 of the things I wanted without even posting in a whishlist thread in HoFo.

Ok yeah, add that to my list. Copy and past. That was lame to leave it out.

oh well why not...

1) MS Exhange activesync (contact and calendar OTA syncing... dont really care for push email as 5min updates work perfect for me, butter than my e61's push)

2) Flash on browser (yes, some say its crap, websites shouldnt depend on it, but unfortunately far too many of the DO, and sometimes you need to get info and you cant cause the stupid site is flash based or flash-dependent)

3) better PDF support as well as possibly better Excel/Word/PPT support (I seldom used any editing on my Nokia, but it is nice to be able to see presentations, etc)

4) cut/paste and general other improvements and integrations (like being able to play music recieved in an e-mail, being able to play videos recieved in e-mails, etc)

I guess I grouped some of them up a bit, but these are my main "i-wishes"...

xcept for the calendar/contacts thing (I really cant get used to syncing a phone to a computer...no matter how many times i force myself to do it it never goes into autopilot...)

One cool feature would be full itunes syncing over wifi... (sync tunes, podcasts, etc over wifi when at home...)

• ichat
• copy-paste
• downloads folder
• ipod visualizer + equalizer

Posted by: michael.s.under

I would be so happy with simple mms, sms to multiple recipient! Add this to 3g with hsdpa and more memory and it would be the absolutely perfect (no exageration) IMHO!!

Posted by: KeanosMagicHat

Assuming you are talking about a software update then ....

1) Voice Dialing (ideally based on VoiceSignal's solution as it's superb)

2) Bluetooth File Transfer

3) Copy / Paste

Posted by: drmrw

Voice dialing
MotherF**king voice memos (or just regular voice memos)
copy/cut paste

Rename the phone from iPhone to MyPhone (as in the phrase I'm Steve Jobs and this is MY phone and I'm letting you use it)

Posted by: BethanyBoo

iChat
Copy and Paste
MMS
Homescreen customization - I'd like to be able to remove/rearrange icons, and have a button to connect to wifi or bluetooth with just one tap
