iPhone purchasing question

I am looking at purchasing a unlocked iPhone. There are a few companies that I am looking to buy it from here in Canada. I asked one company if the iPhone came with an original receipt from the Apple store and if the phone had youtube and wifi enabled. They told me that the phone does NOT come with an original receipt from the Apple store and that youtube was not enabled on their unlocked version. They did say that they can make this active, but that I would have to specify this when ordering the phone.

My question is, would I not be better off buying it from another retailer who has all the features I enquired about already active? In addition to this, they will also include the original receipt received from the Apple store. Or, should I just buy it from the first retailer and ask them to make sure youtube and wifi are enabled?

TIA.

Getting youtube to work isn't hard at all, just download and run PACAY. How much are they charging you for all this?

Honestly the prices we are paying in Canada for an unlocked iPhone is crazy! Here in Montreal they are going for 600-700$! You can pick one up from an Ebay power seller from the US for less than that fully unlocked and shipping included.

I know that I am lucky enough to travel down to the US in a couple of weeks and buy one for 399$

Good luck and try not to get ripped off here in Canada.

the sales receipt is basically useless anyways, youtube is a joke to activate...if u can just buy a brand new locked one from ebay cheapest I saw was 500with shipping to canada "buy it now"

the prices these little kiosks are charging for unlocked iphones is rediculious. In Niagara (like 10 mins to buffalo) theres a kiosk in the Pen Centre (Big mall) selling unlocked iphones for $750! Its INSANE

You might not be as lucky as you think.

Bear in mind that a couple of weeks from now the chances of buying a firmware unlockable phone from the Apple Store or AT&T will be much slimmer than today, especially given the location you'll be buying it from

And the way I'm reading it may be longer than that before we see a crack to this new firmware

You might want to look into the TurboSim unlocking method if you're waiting a few more weeks to purchase.

right now your best bet is ebay for cheap *UNLOCK-ABLE* iPhones. stores in the US are running out of their 1.0.2 stock (source: hackint0sh) and there are to many stores trying to make a quick buck of the uninformed buyer. Charging $150+ for an unlocking service the customer can do themselves in 20minutes is ridiculous. i just wish people would read/research before they bought. I bought (had my cousin buy and ship to me) an 8gb refurb iPhone for a total price including shipping of $440 CAD. To bad refurbs are gone now tho, i swear that was the BEST deal i've seen.

*edit: i realise you already bought your iPhone, this post was merely to help anyone else in canada. cheers

PS happy iPhoning!
