Looks like more Google integration, possibly syncing and editing with google docs. This could be very promising....

Hum, I wonder how they are making the apps "legit"ly?

I think the best thing, if anything, for Google to do would be to completely enhance and revamp the iPhone's built-in calendar with one that syncs completely with the Google calendar (tasks and all), yet retains Apple's clean calendar interface.

Not just the ability to sync with Google calendar. That's not very useful for me...

Awesome. Considering that article is 5 months old, you'd think they'd be on top of that by now.

That article is from May.

This Is 4 Months Old!!!!! This Came Out In May, They Knew Less About The Phone Then Then We Know Now. This Is Not New News.

I was excited for a moment until I saw the date.

Seeing how YouTube isn't in the iPhone picture on the site, and YouTube is owned by Google, I'm gonna guess that YouTube was at least ONE of the apps they considered.

There is a version of their calendar that loads specifically with iPhone dimensions, this looks like they will add and adapt features to the device.

Cam'ron, no one doubts that the platform is able to be developed for. Steve has said as much (or at least said it in the early going). As a previous poster has said, the YouTube app was probably one of the items they were talking about.

I don't think anyone on these boards (or at least anyone with a few functioning areas of gray matter) thinks that Apple isn't going to release applications (be they by Apple or third parties). The question is WHEN, considering 4 months post launch we are still without something as simple as an IM client.

I was speaking more in the generic sense. Apple's company stance towards third party right now is that Safari is the platform. As we've seen with the WiFi music store though, there are some gears turning at Apple. They just turn within the "monetizing" system.

I've been sharing the opinion that the apps from Apple (and probably select third party vendors) are going to follow the iPod model, where you buy them at a price off the iTMS (or even quite possibly the WiFi store). Although if they make us pay for iChat, that would be a little criminal.
