Interesting "fact" about IPSF, can a hofo user confirm?

So I was browsing around over on hackintosh and someone said that they had a IPSF unlocked phone and "accidentally" upgraded to 1.1.1 After not being able to activate with 1.1.1 they downgraded to 1.0.2 and the phone was FULLY functional (GSM radio included). So even though it had the 4 baseband it was still unlocked.

Can anyone here confirm?

I saw that myself and have been trying to find corroborating evidence

I have a copy of IPSF that I haven't installed yet for my unaltered 1.0.2 FW phone. I won't be in the same place as that phone till the weekend but I'm actually thinking of using it now to test it.

Yeah, check Engadget, Gizmodo and TUAW... They all have reports and posts on this from about a week ago.

it does work if you revert back but only with the AT&T sim, so its not technically unlocked anymore.

ok, I think Red Setter is the only one that is on the same page as me...
- I am not talking about the pspsully "method" as you said, nobody has confirmed that
- Engadget, Giz, etc. I saw their reports, not what I'm talking about
- I know the ATT sim will work, again not what I'm talking about

Here's the quote from hackintosh:

i used IPSF to unlock my phone and like an idiot upgraded to 1.1.1 but then when i downgraded back 1.0.2, my phone was still unlocked. i could make calls, receive them...everything

This is the first time I've seen any sort of claim like this and I've been following this whole thing pretty close.

From the horse's mouth, so to speak:

I've a question about IPSF, before I submit the IMEI number. I currently have 3 iPhones and I'm sitting here juggling the 3 trying to decide which one to use my license on - basicly, which one would be the best option and would gain the most.

One - the one I initially intended to use the IPSF license with, is a stock, virgin 1.0.2 firmware. Never jailbroken, never unlocked.

The second was a 1.0.2 locked to AT&T, upgraded to 1.1.1 and then restored back to 1.0.2 so the baseband radio firmware is the 4.X series.

The third I've no idea yet. It's a replacement for a 1.0.2 phone upgraded to 1.1.1 that was bricked by the update. I won't have that phone till this afternoon so I've no idea if it will be 1.1.1 or 1.0.X till I get it.

So, the question then is this: Does IPSF continue to work even after upgrading to 1.1.1?

Also, I understand it can't, at this time, be installed to a 1.1.1 phone (since a 1.1.1 can't be written to yet) but what about a 1.1.1 that was downgraded to 1.0.2 and jailbroken, with a 4.X baseband? Does it require (initially) a 3.X baseband radio FW for the installation to work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I acted too quickly once - when I clicked update on the anySIM unlocked phone, I don't want to do the same again and have yet another iBrick

your virgin 1.02 phone is the only one that would take it. phone 2 (and 3 if it has 1.1.1) will not work as the modem firmware is already 4.x, only when the IPSF software is used before hand is it possible.
