Adding Touch Today Pluging to TILT or 8525

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: yozh

Since ATT decided to leave this great feature out and so many people are wondering how to do this.

Here are the links that you might need. Please read the instructions.

Kaiser HTC Home v.2.0.814.722

Kaiser HTC Home v.2.0.720719 BW and Color

HTC Homeplug Weather fix

This works both on TILT/8925 and 8525. Please read instructions in the posts provided. Usually its as simple as installing a cab. Thank you and enjoy.

P.S. For those that dont know what touch plugin looks like here is a picture.

Posted by: Jerryjans

This also works on the Sprint (HTC) 6800 (Mogul)

It's a great software..I use it on my 8525 along with a slew of other cab files...It organizes everything so well..I also use the HHC Customizer...for when u want to customize ur HTC Home Plug in...

Patiently waiting.

Quick question, do you need to install both of the home plugins? seems like you'd just install the newer one of the two (v.2.0.814.722)

Hey provide a link to it here so everyone can enjoy

Posted by: yozh

I could of swore you can edit the first post if you made it.

Here is a link to the HTC Home Customizer!!

Posted by: i880/8525junkie

I don't mess around with XDA honestly...I don't like posting up links to it..especially with the crap that happened earlier this year...As long as you go to Hermes WM6...you should be able to find it...

Gotcha, they been pretty good to me, but I know what you mean.

Posted by: i880/8525junkie

it ain't even about that..just gotta be careful with the noobs when it comes to xda...they brick their device...blame us for talking about xda...It's not worth it to me honestly...if u PM me and I've talked with you in the past then yea, I'll give u a link but that's as far as I go...Plus I'm in training right now so I won't access XDA while I'm using AT&T's computers...

Posted by: yozh

Just bumping up since SO many people are getting them now. This should help people in there searches. enjoy your Kaisers GUYS !

The Tilt will be available tommorow on AT&T for sale. I have seen prices of $300 to $400 with a 2 year contract. I am going to compare it against my TyTn2 and if the Tilt is as good I will sell the Tytn2 and get the Tilt.

Does anyone have a weather plugin that has a majority of US cities? I've added in my most common ones to the weather file, but hate to go through the process just to add one if I go on some random unexpected trip. Supposedly there is a European one out there, so we North Americans should have our cake as well.

Try the link with the weather fix.

How do you get it to display the temperature in Fahrenheit?

Posted by: 12VMan

I'm a noob at this so bear with me. The XDA site assumes you understand the basics and I don't.

1) Where do I put the .cab file on the device to install?

2) What happens to the ATT page? Do I need to back it up somewhere? Can you switch between the two (in case I don't like the new version)?

3) Can you add shortcuts to any program on the HTC version (e.g. Opera Mini)?

1) You can put it anywhere. I usually just put it in My Documents. Then click on it using your device's File Explorer. It will install automatically. You can then delete the CAB file if you want.
2) Nothing happens. The CAB file will install Additional Today plug-ins. It will not replace anything (as far as I know). You can then select which ones you are using via Settings>Today.
3) Have not used it personally, but I believe so.

Hope this helps.

I'm guessing that means I can't program it to one of the buttons, too?

No.... Maybe with shell command

I installed the color version without any issues.

On another note, does XpressMail only push email if your PC/laptop is logged into Outlook? Apparently I am running Outlook as well - where did that come from and do I get to keep it? It's pushing email regardless of whether I am logged in or not.

Posted by: JP Whoregan

I installed this add on without any issues; I can't believe ATT decided to circumcise one of the highlights of this device from it's rom! This is a *must* addition for anybody that purchases a Tilt.

Posted by: capper

which version are people using with the Tilt?

Posted by: OffTheHorseCEO

so if i install the today plugin, does the device have to be running wm6? (8525)

i have data. it will get any of the other cities that are pre programmed in. but wont get info for my city that i added via xda instructions

When you select the city there is options there take a look there.

If anyone is looking for just a large clock that isn't as huge as the HTC plugin, try the Samsung clock. I found it here:

http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/get...reen-clock.html

Works great.

Posted by: CPcrazyfly

for those of you who got it to work on your Tilt. what are the exact steps you took? there are several links and things that it says to install...

Posted by: roscoe2041

I know this is works on Sprint 6800 HTC Mogul, but will it work on Alltel's service? Because I'm trying it out on this bad boy and it's not playing nice.

Also, does it have to be WM6 or does 5 suffice?

Posted by: Transponder

I've installed this and works great. With the big clock I don't need the little one at the top of the screen. How do I change that to the battery indicator like Yozh has in his picture?

Posted by: codeworks

Previously someone asked for those who installed this on their Tilt, what were the exact steps they followed (which files, etc?)..

Although I am rather technical, I just picked up the Tilt today and really do not want to risk it at this point. The download site almost makes you think you are installing a new ROM. Is that true? Or is this just a homescreen plugin?

Thanks for all your help.

1. Download the latest version of the software. There will be 2 cabs in the file.
2. transfer both CAB files to your device or memory card.
3. Find the CAB files and first, run the "OEMsign2007cert.cab"
4. Run the Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.814.722.HTCHome.Dir.With.Brig htness.fix.updated.01oct2007-schen.cab file. Your device will then prompt you to reset. Accept the reset.

Any way to get rid of that giant clock? What a freakin' waste of space.
I guess I'll install it and find out for myself.

Posted by: VTECaddict

anyone figured out how to remove the taskbar clock and add a battery indicator? its a little redundant to have the little clock along with the giant clock on the HTC Home plugin.

Try this registry settings.

Show Time,Date, both or Battery on top bar at Today screen
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\]
Time:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=1
Date:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=2
Both:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=3
Nothing:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=0
Battery:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=0 / "TBOpt"=1

Enjoy

Posted by: i880/8525junkie

I jus removed the little clock in the top bar in the main screen and added the battery indicator...I like the big clock..but anywhere else away from the big screen, I have the little clock displayed...

I mistakenly erased the shortcut for Wireless Connections from the Launcher. Now, when I try to add a program, Wireless Connections is not among the list of programs I can select. Anyone know how to add it back? Preferably without changing the registry?

Posted by: iLLestOne

Just put it on my tilt...it's pretty cool...

I dunno if I like it as much as my resco exploror, Spb Mobile Shell, Spb Phone Suite combo I had on my 8525...i'll prob use this for a week to see if it can live up to that treo, lol

Posted by: pcmike

Forget that, just install SPB

That's what I'll be doing later tonight...

Go to the same screen where you select a city.

Click on Menu, then "Weather Options." Fahrenheit should be one of the choices.

Okay....i installed this, but where the hell is the battery meter!? Should I just do the reg edit like posted above, or what?! I LIKE having the time in the top, so when I'm on a call and such it is always there...but I also like to be able to look at my battery life.

I was going to create a shortcut for it, but with the plugin, "power" isn't listed in the programs.....

download HTC Home Customizer. it lets you change what's displayed on the taskbar (time, battery, etc) as well as a bunch of settings for the HTC Home plugin (like adding custom cities to the weather page) without editing the registry or anything like that.

once you have the battery on the taskbar, you can just tap it and it will open the full battery meter page.

You have to download that theme from the web. It's called the HTC Home theme, or something like that.

I was thinking about doing this...have you had any problems with thier ROM!? I mean, the kaiser has a front camera, so I just figured some stuff might be messed up if you change the tilt to that ROM....

How is your battery life?! Any neg's of HTC's rom!?

Click on your city, then when its at the "Select city" screen, Go down to menu (right soft key), then "Weather options"

I didn't uninstall anything. When you go to your "Today" setting (Start --> Settings --> Personal --> Today), go to the "Items" tab at the bottom and you should see one called "HTCHomeplug". Uncheck it and if you installed everything correctly, there should be one called "HTC Home" which is the original Home plugin you want to enable.

Posted by: garrym13

Would someone give me a step by step on how to do this? I have been trying to install this for the past four days now and have come up with nothing. I modded mj BJ to the gills but I cannot figure this damn 8525 out. I have tried the couple of how to's in this thread and the link. I guess I am havving a brain fart week.

Posted by: gbothepro

1. Download the cab to your PC.
2. Synchronize your divice to your PC, and open the explore tab
3. Once you download the cab, you should find it on my documents on your PC
4. Click and drag the cab file from my documents to your mobile device
5. On your mobile device, go to start>programs>tools>file explorer look for the cab click on it. IT will start loading, if not it will take to a zip click on the file twice and it should start loading.

Doesn't this cab only works for WM6? That is probably why you are having problems installing it.

Posted by: garrym13

I did those exact steps, therefore I am not slipping in the brain dept. I guess you are right about it only working on WM6, but the thread title said 8525 and I assumed WM5 would work.

Posted by: gbothepro

it really shoudnt be a problem if you follow those steps. maybe someone who installed it on their 8525 could help you. or you can flash your phone with WM6. or you can just be patient and wait till att release an upgrade for WM6, which could be pretty soon.

Posted by: ron808

So, it should be working fine on WM6 and not on WM5?

That's probably why I have to reboot my 8525-WM5 and oftentimes it hangs up.

Is there a way to remove the programs (HTC home, Weather- it isn't working at all) without damaging the OS of my phone?

Thanks in advance.

Posted by: gbothepro

To remove it, go to start>settings>click on the system tab>remove programs.
click on HTC home, then remove button. Same for weather fix. Hope this helps.

The plug in does not change your theme color. To do that you need to download this file http://freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-dow...-wm6-theme.html found in this thread: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1267549
