V3xx Seems Dead -- Moisture? Corrupt flash?

My fiance' left her ATT V3xx in the car over night and it rained heavily. The car doesn't leak or anything but it was really humid inside. The thing under the battery is white w/ red dots.
Here's as far as I've gotten w/ troubleshooting:
- Plug it in to charge and the red light blinks very slowly. On 3 secs, off 1/4 sec repeatedly. Nothing comes on either screen and no backlights do anything.
- If I leave the battery out of it for a few minutes and then put it back in, plug it into the charger and THEN hit power, the keypad backlight blinks on and off about the same speed but backwards -- 1/4 sec on, 3 secs off.
- If I do the same as above, but instead of hitting power, I go into the bootloader, it goes in but says battery is too low to flash. (I don't have a V3xx ROM anyway)
- Once I do #2, #3 will not work and I have to leave the battery out again. (Is this a sign of a corrupted flash?)
Where do I go now? Try to flash?
Can I charge the V3xx battery in a V3 safely? Lithium-Ion batteries scare me. I try not to do stupid things with them.
Do I (groan) call AT&T?
Any help, flames, pointers, taunts, jeers, etc appreciated.
TiA.

take the phone apart in the back and check for corrosion, there is also an additional water damage sticker inside the phone, if it is water damaged wipe the contacts with rubbing alcohol and go from there
