AT&T 8925 Tilt Pics

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: jandj

Hi all,
I just snapped some pics and setup a quick blog for my Tilt experiences. Some of them are comparison pics with my 8125 as well that are on there to show the cosmetic differences. I'll update it over the weekend when I install TomTom and have a more thorough review to post up there.

8925 Tilt

Posted by: Starbuck_Drunk

You might want to fix the date in your blog. You put October 15, 2007

Posted by: jandj

Minor typo, thanks!

Posted by: maevro

Did you install the HTC homeplug on it? All the 8925s I saw didn't have it pre-installed.

Indeed I did install the Kaiser HTC Home, ike has it there (he provided me with it).

Posted by: jandj

I can definitely edit the sheet, I just put 44 in A1 and 42 in B1 and C1 added them properly.

I'm also coming from an 8125, can you take a photo of both from the side so I can see the thickness of the two?

Posted by: alphaivt

The lighting and angles you shot at makes the Tilt look like an all black phone...

That would be because it is a black phone... You can clearly see the brushed metal face and anything else that's not black.

Beyond this, it's worth noting I just snapped quick comparison pics. I don't claim to be any good photographer.

Sure, I'll take a picture of the side and post it by tomorrow with the rest.

did anyone else notice that clock on HTC Home shows a different time from the clock on the top bar?

Posted by: jandj

Yes, I have noticed it; that was actually the first thing I noticed when uploading the pictures. Sometimes when the clock switches, there is a slight delay for the one on the top bar to reflect it. I don't know why and it doesn't happen all the time either. I happened to snap the pic coincidentally right when it was switching.

If anyone has seen this on theirs, can you tell me if it happens on yours? If someone else could get a picture of it happening, that'd be pretty sweet too...

I got the At&T Tilt

How to play Youtube Videos on the At&t Tilt ?
do we need to download real player ?

The 2 Times Display

Does anyone know if the Tilt weighs more than the 8125? I have seen weights for the Tilt from 6.7 to 6 ounces. According to what I can find on the internet, the official 8125 weight is 5.3 ounces.

Could these phones possibly be getting heavier? My pants are already weighed down as it is. Can anyone comment on the weight?

Thinner but heavier

Exactly. Weight balance is better on the Kaiser though, and I prefer the overall feel including weight.

Jesus christ lordvaderr, you need to learn what the search function is once in a while. You're just spamming the posts with your ridiculous and ridiculous amount of questions. Learn something yourself for once. It was fine the first few times you did it but now, all the post counts you hvae right now are of pure questoins that can simply be found out if you just take your time to search. Sorry if my post is cruel, or mean but he just got to an annoying point with me.

I found the dialpad on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311225
It is under "New Dialer Skin" and I used the CAB version.

Connect your device via USB. Copy files into root or any other folder like My Docs. Sync. Go to that folder on your device and just click on the CAB file. Follow instructions on screen and you are done! You might have to do a soft reset to get it to work.

ike, thanks man! Installed and works great!

Posted by: luv2hum

shkoiyach!
i will try it as soon as i can!
exactly which cab files did you use, i see so many of them to get the home screen and dial pad?

Posted by: jandj

I added a quick video of some of my favorite features like the new buttons and the GPS receiver. I didn't cover much because I don't have alot of time to spend, but it may give some of you who can't get to one some insight. Like I said, I just did it pretty quick so it's nothing great.

Only one for the home plugin and one for the dial pad.
Wizard_reTOUCHed_Dialer2.cab
Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.814.722-schen.cab

Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.814.722-schen.cab came as a zip file and had 2 other cab files with it, I assume that are installed automatically as well...

Posted by: luv2hum

nice video...thanks

Posted by: luv2hum

i got the dialpad but found a cab file called homepluginwm6 is that the same as the kaiser one...or should i just do the kaiser one?
thanks

All I can vouch for is the kaiser one, if you want my result, you might want to stick with that.

I'll have ike post about the theme too... (I used them all with his recommendation)

thanks again, what is the theme going to show ?

Posted by: jandj

It's just the gray theme I use.

Very nice video review. I will point out that most of the dedicated buttons mentioned can also be found on the 8525. There are some changes in the placement, but I am not sure if there are any new ones. I do like that HTC has moved the Messaging and IE dedicated buttons from the top of the device's front panel to the bottom. A lot of the time when I'd pull my 8525 out of its case, I would accidently push one of them. Got kind of annoying. I also assume that the function of the buttons can be customized like they can on the 8525.

Good point, I probably should have mentioned it.

I was just showing the major differences from the 8125-8925 (which I'm sure you gathered). I wanted to mostly leave out the 8525 because it's sort of an intermediate rather than a significant hardware revision.

Agreed. The 8125 had those up top as well and I really grew tired of pushing them when pulling it out of my pocket.

Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it.
