The screen shuts off, unit begins heating up profusely almost to the point where you can't even touch it for more than 5-7 seconds. My coworker who has an iPhone said he has never even seen an iPhone get that hot ever. The bottom 20% of the phone wasn't heating up it was the middle to top of the phone that was heating up almost non stop. Nothing would work, no reset, home button, power button, NOTHING. My very own iBrick.
My shift was finished so I rushed home and the whole way home I had the A/C on it so that it wouldn't melt anything inside if it kept heating up. Well, I got home called AT&T store, and of course they tell me to call 800-MY-IPHONE. Well, I do this and the tech says that it definitely needs service. They set up service, waived the $29 fee for a loaner and they are sending me a loaner phone by Mon or Tues. My iPhone should be back in my hands by Friday or Saturday of next week. I hope that it all works out. Wish me luck... By the way, I think what caused the problem is a surge. I told Apple that it just started heating up in my pocket, but the truth is it happened when I put it in the HiFi. We had a bad storm here yesterday when this happened and the power went out in the store so maybe the HiFi got a surge and was an accident waiting to happen. Either way, I hope it all works out. The guy from Apple said this is most probably a battery problem that they are aware of. |
