Backlight Turns Off In Middle Of Call With Tilt

OK, is it me or am I missing a setting? When I make a call, the call screen fades to black and I have to push the power button to return to the call screen. Very annoying. I have the backlight set to turn off if device not used for 3 mintues and external power is the same.

Any help is appreciated before I bring it back to the store,

Excuse my ignorance, but is that a hack?? Or is it a registry hack??
I don't have exp. hacking phones. I'll check the registry and see if I can change the setting.

I guess its a registry hack, it does require you to edit the registry.

I am trying to find where to access the registry. I have some exp. with that. Just can't find it.

You need a PPC registry editor. (i.e. total commander, PHM regedit, task manager, etc..)

Thanks folks. I did the reg hack, but the problem persists. Is anyone else seeing this?? I went back to the store today and the rep took out another tilt and the same thing occurred. He was unable to figure it out.

Anyother ideas?? I really need to be able to see my screen when on the phone without having to touch the screen every couple of seconds to keep it on

well doesn't all phones turn off their backlight after a while during a call to save power. If you're using a BT headset you'll be touching the screen anyways so that would keep it on but if you have the phone up to your ear it only makes sense for the phone to turn off the backlight to save power.

I've got TotalCommander, how do you edit the registry with it??

edit: Nevermind, I found it. Got to navigate to "\\\registry\" in the tree.

Dont forget that you have to soft-reset the phone after changing registry !!!!!

Yeah, I did that too. It is more a matter of inconvienence than anything.

For anyone else that may be bothered with this, I "found" a fix.

I added the custom black screen and icons from xda and the problem went away.

Hi there - when I go to this dir on my tilt I see:

HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\

but instead of EnableFastDormantDisplay

I see NITZCUSTOMIZE

What am I missing?
