The Tilt is Dead (Long live the Tilt)

So after two great fun days with my phone, I put it on the charger overnight last night for its first official recharge (I'd had it on active sync a few times so it trickle charged then). I woke up this morning and the only thing my phone does now is display a red LED by the ear speaker. No powerup nothing. Tried removing the battery and sim card, nothing is working! I guess I'll try taking it back and hope they have another in stock.

wow not good news to hear... I just ordered mine last night.. Should be here tuesday I hope!

Friday night after i got mine the screen turned a really bright shade of white making it almost impossible to read the screen. I think it got to hot or something. Later in the evening it went back to normal but almost all day Saturday i had a white screen. WTF!?!?!?! And of course everyone is sold out so i can't even exchange it.

Try doing hard reset? There should be a place somewhere on the phone that can be reset with a pin. On the 8525 it is at the bottom and it can be reset with the stylus.

Try removing the battery. Putting it back in. Then press and hold the power button for 5-10 sec. See if it comes up. If not plug it in then wait 5-10 minutes then press the power button and hold it for 5-10 secs. Try that let me know how it goes.

Man now that looks like top of the line technology!!!

I bought the 8525 right when it came out and replaced it twice before the end of the first month. Then ended up getting the blackjack.

Now I am waiting to see what issues come up with the tilt and this will help me decide if I want it.

Wirelessly posted (HTC-8500/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))

I've had white screen issues with my 8525 before. Usually a hard reset doe the trick, or tapping the power button once to turn off the backlight, pushing it again to turn the screen completely off, and then once again to turn it back on. That seems to do the trick. I think its some kind of heat issue myself, considering I only experience this issue when the phone is in my pocket for extended periods of time.

What really sucks is that no one has it in stock to exchange it.

Your stories are scaring me! I dont want my tilt to become a brick the same week I get it!

It will be interesting to see how many people have to return their tilts. I've got mine coming tuesday hopefully my local store gets some in by then just in case. Where there alot of problems with the 8525 when it first came out??

OP Here- I've tried every variety of reset anyone has suggested, and nothing works. The only thing I can get the Tilt to do is dispay a red LED when I plug it into the wall. I believe it is simply a manufacturing flaw. I'm not too worried about it, but it will be difficult to get a replacement since the stores aren't exactly overflowing with them. If my store doesn't get any in tomorrow, I'll RMA it through the call center.

My old phone works fine with the SIM, so I'm not out of a phone. BUT, the ebay auction on that phone ends Friday, so I'll have to send it away at some point!

Will keep this thread as fresh as seems reasonable.

Good luck to you, I hope AT&T does you right. Sucks when the new toy is broken. I'm always wondering what isn't going to work when i first get a new phone and then how much cursing will be involved until i figure it out......of course its nothing that time, money, and valium won't fix.....

OK, so after running all over town today, I finally found a store with a Tilt in stock. They REALLY didn't want to give it to me to replace a broken one, but I managed to convince them that they should do the right thing and make it happen. They originally wanted me to go to the store I bought it from, which of course won't have any in until Friday. Anyway, good service came through and now I'm reloading stuff onto Tilt #2. I've also confirmed that this one charges properly, so I think I'm good to go!
