Got TILT, Added DataPlan, Now SPAM?

So, Got the TILT on Thursday locally. Added the Unlimited Data plan and 1500 text messages a month. I told the CSR in store I didn't need the TextMsg feature, I never use it, and would be using company email instead.

Since I got the device I've gotten 9 Text messages from "1111302000" that are just garbage.

I never used to receive any texts before unless a friend was being stupid and though he would act like a kid.

Any ideas why?

Can I block incoming Text's from a certain number? or, even all numbers? It's pretty annoying, and if it continues I'm just going to be more ticked.

Thanks.

Are they from att? Cause I get those sometimes but I think at the end of the message it says text blah blah blah back to stop receiving these types of messages.

Wirelessly posted (HTC-8500/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))

You can get PDA Connect Unlimited that does not have the text messaging function. Pay Per Use texting will be activated on your account, but you can call into customer service and put a text messaing block on incoming and outgoing texts.

Did you ever use Xpress Mail? It sends text messages as a 'push notification' which XPress Mail intercepts (to they're background/silent.) You don't get charged for them.
Could it be this or some other similar type of service sending these?

You know what? You're probably right. I did setup my gmail acct with XpressMail, but removed the account shortly after.

Do you know how to stop the messages?

Thanks!

Two ways.
http://xpressmailpe.cingular.com/
Log in and remove the device and uncheck any messaging and notification options. Make sure you delete any accounts you set up.

The only other way I know is to re-install xpress mail, then go in to settings and uncheck push mail. Then uninstall it.

A pain but it should work.

If you want push mail. Do not use XPress Mail.
Instead use Seven Mail V7 Beta:
Xpress Mail is Seven Mail V6, and Seven Mail V7 (open free beta) is a vast improvement and uses real data channel push, not this SMS push notification thing.
Seven Mail 7 works very very well and uses very little battery power, less than MS direct push.

Or just use MS Direct push with mail2web.com

Seven Mail Beta:
http://preview.seven.com/
Just register and it's free to use. Select "Other" and then "PPC" as your download.
