I've had my Treo now for a couple years, and just recently, have been unable to Hotsync the phone.

I've not been plugging in the Hotsync cable, as I switched to Windows Vista on my main PC, which Palm is not releasing a version of Palm Desktop, for the Treo 600, for. My laptop, runs XP Pro. When I try to sync it on my laptop, using the most current Palm Desktop for the Treo 600, it is picked up as an "unknown USB device." This is with a fresh install of XP (format the PC, then load windows)

The phone still takes a charge with no problems, from the charge cable. I'm unwilling to try buying a new Hotsync cable, both because, if it doesn't work, then I'm unlikely to be able to return it, and out the money, and because, I'm hoping to get a new phone. But, with VZ doing their usual shenanigans with new smartphones / PDAs, the phone I want may not be out by the time I really want to have teh new phone....

Any suggestions?
