Tilt - Returning (Upgrade from 8525)

I had high hopes for the Tilt. Functionally, I think it is great. I like the Tilt option, the extra memory, and the GPS. I was trying to upgrade from my 8525 which I have had since it was released. It currently is loaded up with an optimized WM6 ROM.

The Tilt to me not only looks cheap in person, but feels cheap too. I am big on how things feel in my hand when it comes to mobile devices. I never got the feeling that the 8525 felt cheap. I also am not impressed with the lower quality screen on the Tilt compared to the 8525. It seems a bit washed out as if the LCD was over lower quality.

If I had not been coming from a WM6 8525, I would probably keep the Tilt. I also have an iPhone which I use. I am really picky and I just don't feel its the right upgrade. Most people it wont bother, but some of you that are as picky as me and currently have an 8525, wait for another option....

I felt just the opposite. Tilt feels much better than 8525 did.

I couldn't disagree more. The Tilt looks, feels, and operates much better than the 8525.

How is your signal strength and 3G consistancy?
I live in San Diego too and it keeps switching from 3G to H making data use (email/internet/online downloads) a long process.

Correct me if I am wrong but it was my understanding that 3G and H were the same thing.. 3G is ATT's HSDPA and the downloads are the same, the icon just changes...

3G is UMTS. H is HSDPA, which is faster than UMTS.

I am considering this "upgrade"...you say you think the LCD looks worse!? I could care less of the feel of the phone (imho), so did you also think it ran slower or that wm6 wasn't as good as wm5!?

I mean, I could sell my 8525 and get this phone from premier for the same price, so it wouldn't cost anything...I just want to make sure it is a "ugrade"...and that I don't regret it

If I have 3G coverage the phone has the 3G icon but whenever their is a data connection it switches to the H icon. I check the data speeds reguarly and they are typically in the 300-700kbps range depending on the connection. I have noticed that connection to my hotmail account takes forever but it was the same on my 8525 and 8125. I have no problem with the internet conection or downloading files. I use orb all the time to stream live tv to the device and have absolutely no issues.

In what sense do you think that TyTN II is better than the Tilt? Is it just because of the second camera or more?

So a Tilt with TyTN II ROM is on par with the TyTN II? LOL. That's a silly statement.
