Razr V3 battery life and camera problem

I have a Razr V3 with two problems that may or may not be related.
1) After a full charge the battery last a max of 12 hours - less if I actually use the phone. I swapped batteries with my wife's Razr, and her battery only lasted 12 hours in my phone, but my battery was fine in her phone. So, the problem certainly seems to be that my phone drains the battery quickly even when not in use.
2) If I try to take a picture with the camera, the screen goes blank and the phone freezes. The only solution is to take out the battery, then reinsert it, and start phone again.

Both problems seems to have started around the same time on this phone which is 18 months old.

Fess up... what firmware did u flash to this phone?

Nothing was flashed to the phone. I tend to be a very boring phone user -- no games download, no ringtones downloaded. I did purchase the motorola phone tools back about a year ago so I could sync outlook calendar & contacts with the phone, but that's as fancy as I get. Even when I take a picture, I don't send it anywhere via the phone, I just download it to the PC if its worth keeping.
