Tilt - Rebates vs. Premiere

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Greets,

Well, Premiere is sticking to $299 with data plan, and it seems others are buying, in store, at $299 + 2 $50 rebates, for $199.

Logic dictates that these two numbers will resolve themselves the day after the rebates end.

Can anyone please let me know the end date of the rebates?

Thanks!

Store pricing is $399-$100 rebates if I am not mistaken.
I decided not to do rebates and keep my MediaMax $20 plan. If i switched to $40 plan just to get the rebates, it will not really get much money, but then be at risk of not getting MediaMax again.

Thanks very much for the clarification, but the point remains. Under any acceptable business model, the price for the phone will drop down to the post-rebate price shortly after the rebate expires (since rebates are, as everyone knows, largely a trick where the seller hopes to get a little extra cash from the X% who fail to properly fill it out).

If someone can please tell me the expiration date of the rebate, it would be appreciated.

independant stores can sometimes offer you a greater discount by cutting into their own commission. Cingular corp stores and online can't do that. however, stores like amazon can and do. not sure about the tilt, but on other phones it's cheaper than at a store, so I figure this is what they do.

I'm getting a 3k min family plan w/ 3 lines, 2 or 3 tilts (one of the guys might want a touch instead), and 3 data plans. price I got quoted for the tilts was well under $299 after rebates, and I get an additional 15% off the service charges on my bill for premier discount. (you can call in after you sign up at a store to have the CSR apply the premier discount).

Oh, and the rebates are as follows in my area
$50 MIR for new line activations
$50 MIR for purchasing a tilt w/ qualifying data plan

so if you don't do the $40 data plan, you should still be able to get the first rebate, bringing your price down to $349

That's odd. I had just chatted with "Amy" in Premiere Customer Service and asked her if I could buy the phone/plan at a store, and then switch to premiere pricing for the plan. She said, absolutely not, and that I would have to return the phone to the store and re-buy thru premiere!

I ordered my online ($399) but didn't get a data plan for almost the same reason, it just wasn't worth the $50 rebate - $40 plan = $10. But I do not have the media max plan on my account. Should I add it before I activate my tilt or can I still do it online later. Not sure if i'll use it yet or not.

So is there a Tilt only rebate, no plans associated?
Like if I was to buy one outright?

The way I see it is as follows. The 2 - $50 rebates requires that you have the PDA connect data plan which is $39.99/mo. The media max unlimited plan is $19.99/mo. It takes 8-12 weeks to get the rebate. So you are paying an extra 3 months at $20/mo for a total of $60 to get the $100 rebate. Net savings $40.00

Both rebates require the PDA Connect data plan.

Please pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between these data plans. From looking at them, I assumed I would get "PDA Personal Max Unlimited Add-On". Is this not right?

Thats exactly what I got as well. I love to save every penny, but $40 is not worth the risk of not being able to put MediaMax later on. I added mine just this morning and it shows in my account, however, it does not show my data usage yet. I REALLY hope I am already using the MediaMax coz I probably already used a few hundred dollars of data today

... umm ... sorry to repeat --- what is this Media Max. Is "PDA Personal Max Unlimited Add-On" not right?

no. MediaMax is unlimited internet for smartphones and regular phones. It is $20 and includes 200 text messages. If you are using a PDA aka Tilt, you are not suppose to use MediaMax and reps will not add it for you.

um you can get it for $275 online with Premiere. AT&T offers an additional $100 off if you get an unlimited data plan plus $25 off in check out on top of the 45% off phone equipment and web rebate.

whats your point? everyone knows that phone is $300 if you get a data plan and a voice plan when ordering. 45% off is bogus and in the end doesnt do anything because they jack the prices so high.

Posted by: GWHiZiTSPHiL

what are you talking about? i'm talking about $275 not $300.

Posted by: J5INC

I know this is off subject but when you add a data plan via manage your account online....... how long does it take for the newly added plan to take affect.

Posted by: BKF

I went online and logged into my normal account and checked my upgrade status. Since i'm 1 year into a 2 year contract, it said I could only purchase the phone at a cost of $549.00 "No Commitment" price. Then it shows that I'm using my existing plan, and then has the button to add the phone to my cart. I do so and it shows that it's $449 after to $50 rebates.

I'm a little confused... From the average person's perspective, it would seem that I'm being given these rebates even though I'm not activating. I am, though, on that expensive $40 PDA plan, and have been for a year.

Are those 2 rebates strictly for new activations of phones/data plans? And if not, why would they show my "total" as $449 after rebates after logging into my account (where they know I'm not activating a phone and/or new data plan)?
