SNES Emulator? Possible?

Would this ever be possible? To have an SNES Emulator on the iPhone? Is the iPhone even capable of running something like this?

Look at how slow the NES version is...I don't think it'll happen for awhile. Proof of concept maybe.

True.. but is the NES version slow cus of coding? Or is it simply that the iPhone lacks the power?

its not slow at all. I use it every day and it doesnt stall.

It mainly depends on the Rom that you are using, and the game being played... the more being displayed on the screen, the slower it is.... a game with very little on the screen like tetris, or punch-out will run just fine.

Excellent que. It will be really cool to be able to play SNES games like Street Fighter on the iPhone. Sorry to say but I really can't find many nice NES roms.

The logistics of it make it impossible. The SNES controller has the L, R, A, B, X, Y, Select and Start buttons.

They can't figure out a very good way to put just A, B, Start, Select on there yet.

You can't find ROMS, or you can't find one you like?

The easiest google search in the world (obvious search terms) brings up a huge database of ROMS on the first link.

im sure it could be done. as there are already apps out there that will play nes and snes games. the problem would be is i dont think that apple is allowing 3rd party apps as of now.

I have dl about 500 ROMs. Just haven't found any that I really like. The more ROMs I try, the more I think that playing NES games on the iPhone is just a way to bring back good old times. It can not really be compared with games developed specifically for the iPhone.
That said, the small memory footprint of the NES Roms is definitely a big plus since iPhone does not have expandable memory.

welcome to HoFo but don't make comments in a forum that completely negates what point you are trying to make. 3rd party apps haven been available for a long time now. Just for those privledged enough.

I have a slight problem. I try uploading my roms to the iphone using FTP. It just doesn't connect. Is there any other way I can put the roms on it? I gotta play Super Mario!

iBrickr (Windows)

You can also use SSH or SCP

Hmm, well i use a Mac for my iPhone stuff, but my main desktop is Windows. Could I still use that for it? Won't my iPhone have to restore itself to be used on a Windows based computer? Also, i'll look into SCP. I have SSH already. Thanks.

Just get a Mac SCP GUI program and drag and drop. You could also do this from a Windows machine. Download WinSCP.

Cyberduck is a nice SFTP client for the Mac.

Why don't they make small dots the side of this ( ) and that could be the buttons and the button name would be light transparent grey.
