newbie questions

ok i better just come out with it.. I have a bunch of questions and I've looked for answers here, to no avail They mainly have to do with firmware:

1 - I thought I saw something to adjust the ear speaker volume when viewing a screen shot of someone flashing this phone in a program called cb2000. I've seen this mentioned alot and I supposed it's the prog of choice/only prog to flash gu/gd 87/88s. Is this feasible? The low volume is really killing my enjoyment of this phone..

2 - I'm on AT&T Wireless in the US. Is it possible to flash my gu87? If i were to say, botch the flash, is there anyway they could tell? I supposedly have 30 days satisfaction guarenteed through them, so if I messed it up I was gonna play stupid and tell that "I don't know what happened, my phone simply stopped working.."

3 - I've heard what is probably a bogus rumour about some hacked firmware that enables active flip. I'm sure this will be shot down quickly, but on the off chance it exists.. I figured I'd check with those in the know.

: off topic about active flip :

this COULD be possible.. since the phone does recognize flipping open and closed, it's how the backlight is turned on and off. If someone were particularly savvy, they might be able to incorperate something like this (im an intro programmer.. so I dont know)

if phone = ringing
and user = flip open
function(lights on)
function(green call button)
end

and for close

if call = 1
and user = flip close
function(lights off)
function(red call button)
call = 0

I think it's just a dream with this phone and i don't really mind it not being there..

Anyway, thanks in advance for any and all help I can get on this subject..

Just for testing. It does not increase jack crap for operational mode.

Yes, but other than the no sound patch there is nothing anyone has here to offer you in the line of firmware that is worth taking a risk over. For many the shutter sound is not a problem, it is up to you if you really want it that badly. Judging from you post here. I would recommend more familiarity with the mobile before attempting anything.

Rumor.

Might be possible if someone had the original source code. It is a little naive to think that it would be that simple to hack the machine code that is in the mobile unless this feature was already partially implemented.....Unless of course we had Java, then maybe there would be some hooks to do something like this with the mobile.

fiddlesticks.. is there ANY way to up the volume past the max setting in the phone? I'm almost certain there isn't.. but I figure to keep that ray of hope alive
