Flash PTT phone to non-PTT?

Hi,

I just got the KX444 PTT phone, which turned out to be a mistake since Verizon requires you to have a special PTT contract, even if you don't want the PTT feature. (I bought the phone because it's ruggedized.) Is there any way to 'flash' this or somehow get it to work on a non-PTT plan? or turn it into a non-PTT phone? The KX444s is supposed to be non-PTT, so it seems like there might be a way...? Any info would help, especially since all the info on this topic is at least 18mos old.
