Here it is:

(Dont use with DO NOT USE WITH ANYSIM)

http://iphone.xorl.net/1.1.1-jailbreak.zip

or

http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/1.1.1-jailbreak.zip

Guide coming soon.

Posted by: izzat786

Wow, is this for real? I'm at work and can't check.

Posted by: brealmp3

got it downloaded, but i'm gonna wait on the guide

Posted by: fxnsht

i started reading the guide included inside the file.
does this mean we'll HAVE to downgrade to 1.0.2 before jailbreaking to 1.1.1?
there isn't a way to accomplish this without the downgrade?

Also, ibrickr (0.9) has something that does the downgrade too, will it work?

Posted by: PhoneLines

Well, got it to the point where its jail broken, but after doing to it says the capicity of my phone is now 300 megs and only 23 megs is free.

So, something went wrong.

Restore it and try again. Step by step carefully.

Where is step 6 done to patch the springboard? What ap am I using to upload that?

How am I doing this part?

The new version of SpringBoard has been hard-coded to allow only factory
applications to run. We've coded up a patcher that will fix this "bug",
and back up your original SpringBoard app.

1. Upload the springpatch binary included with this distribution:

scp springpatch root@[IPHONE IP]:/usr/bin

Then low into your iPhone and run it:

$ springpatch

Thats the point where I stopped. It still should be more then 300 megs at that point I am thinking. Maybe I'll wait for a better guide. I was being adventurous.

this is the fstab file contents:
/dev/disk0s1 / hfs rw 0 1
/dev/disk0s2 /private/var hfs rw,noexec 0 2

So its got the rw. Dunno how I only got 300 megs from 8 gigs.

Posted by: glustic

Downloaded it, you are required to get iTunesMobileDevice.dll which is included in iBrickr, and readline5.dll which you can downloadHERE

This looks very promising!

Posted by: PhoneLines

I restored back to 1.1.1 and all is ok again. I wasn't sure what to do once I hit step 6, so I'm better off waiting a bit for a better guide or application to install it. Had my scare when it said I had 300 megs.

Posted by: Webnasty

2. While still connected to iTunes, SSH into your iPhone while still at
version 1.0.2. If you don't have SSH set up, see STEP 0's steps four and
five to install OpenSSH.

Now execute the following commands:

mv /var/root/Media /var/root/Media.old
ln -s / /var/root/Media

Your Media folders should now look like this:

lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 1 Oct 10 12:06 Media -> /
drwxr-x--- 7 root wheel 272 Oct 10 10:51 Media.old

If it doesn't look like this, try again.

??? I typed these commands into the terminal and hit execute, but where do you then see this?

Your Media folders should now look like this:

lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 1 Oct 10 12:06 Media -> /
drwxr-x--- 7 root wheel 272 Oct 10 10:51 Media.old

by any chance, are you on a 4gig model?

Nope, 8.

For now I re-downgraded from 1.1.1 to 1.02 and all is ok. Just going to wait a bit and leave it at 1.02 till maybe something more streamline is out.

Posted by: stockbones

for step #5, it mentions "activating a non-att sim"

does this mean its unlocking the iPhone so it can work with sim's other than at&t?

Posted by: Webnasty

iPHUCing went crazy trying to follow these directions. I could only get as far as step 3 with: putjailbreak rdisk0s1 /dev/rdisk0s1 and it wouldn't recognize the file. I also got to the point where it said the capacity of my phone is 300 megs.

Posted by: mcdj

I got about half way through the guide before my left eye fell out and rolled under the couch. Waiting for GUI.

Posted by: richiesays

cot damn, its hope atleast!

Posted by: sanos

Hmmm, so im not gonna lie, all you guys kinda worried me with this method... please let us know how it goes, and if you are successful please post an easy to follow guide. I think for now i am just gonna stick with 1.0.2 until this is perfected!

Posted by: 5tan

I'm trying it now, does it take long to install 'Trip1Prepz' ? Seems like its stuck at 1/4 of the way for a long time now.

Posted by: Webnasty

It looks like modmyiphone has a good step-by-step guide to the complicated process:

http://www.modmyiphone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9443

Unfortunately I can't get my iTunes to "download only" the 1.1.1 update.

Posted by: 5tan

I think i'm having the same problem, when i click check for update, it says 1.0.2 is the latest version.

Posted by: Webnasty

I think that means you already have it. I keep getting stuck here:

Congratulations!
THAT'S IT! You have now achieved read/write access to the root directory of your iPhone (ie. your jailbroked biotch!) Make sure to restart your iPhone for the changes to take effect. To verify everything went smoothly, re-open iPHUC and type or copy the following command:

getfile /etc/fstab fstab
Then, check the directory that iphuc-jailbreak.exe is in for the file 'fstab'. Open it and look around for 'rw'. It may have it in there a few times, but nowhere should you see 'ro'. If you do see 'ro', you have probably failed and should try again.

i can't figure out how to find 'rw' or even 'ro'.

Posted by: GeeK.dLL

The Dev Team is working on an easier jailbreaking process that can be used by all, and will work on unlocking after that. They hope to release the Jailbreak and Unlock solutions at the same time.

Status update: 'Progress is being made (please wait for more details): 1.1.1 sec-pack obtained | 1.1.1 filesystem decrypted.

Posted by: Webnasty

Great... I'm part-way through the process and it appears modmyiphone.com's site is down.

Posted by: Webnasty

it is back up

getfile /etc/fstab fstab copies fstab to you local hard drive.
Open the file up in a text editer and look for rw

Posted by: Webnasty

Thanks. I did finally figure that out. When I open it I see this:

/dev/disk0s1 / hfs rw 0 1
/dev/disk0s2 /private/var hfs rw,noexec 0 2

So I see rw(s), and no ro(s), so I figure I'm good. I follow the directions up to running iphoneinterface.exe. That works fine and I get:

fileref: 1
r_command

Great. So I restart, and try to connect to my iphone with WinSCP. But I am stuck there as I can't get it to connect. Anybody else have this problem?

after you've downloaded that file, either open it up in textedit and look at it, or type:

cat fstab

and look at it. The line starting with '/' should end with rw or ro (you want it to say rw)

Posted by: Webnasty

Not being able to connect via WinSCP, I decided to try restoring all of my info. But when I tried that it said the capacity of my phone is 300 megs (again). As far as I can figure I'm following these directions to the letter.

I'm getting this, is it correct?

/dev/disk0s1 / hfs rw 0 1
/dev/disk0s2 /private/var hfs rw,noexec 0 2

Thanks!

I've been reading the original notes again (now that i'm a little more awake), and i think we both forgot to remove the symlink after we were done ... its pointing back to the root device and not using the rest of the drive for media.

i ended up flashing to 1.1.1 (stock) and went to bed last night, but when i get home i'll down-grade again and re-do and post my test result on getting our space back.

what ip are you trying to connect to?

your iphone needs to be on your home wifi to get a proper ip you can route to. after you connect (sucessfully) to your home wifi, go to settings, then click the little blue arrow next to your bonded wifi link, and look for "IP Address".

then, go to terminal/iterm, and type:

ssh root@<whatever that IP Address in your iPhone says> ... you should get prompted for a password then.

Posted by: Webnasty

I thought we were supposed to use the WinSCP program (I am familiar with it, I have used it before). In WinSCP under Host name I was putting in my IP Address. I kept the Port number at 22. For the User name I was using 'root' and for the password 'dottie'. I would change the File protocol to 'SCP'.

sorry, wasn't paying attention ... get the IP from the phone like I said, and put that into the Hostname in WinSCP.

Posted by: Webnasty

Also, do you have to do a full restore everytime you switch versions? Having bounced back and forth between 1.1.1 and 1.02 a few times today, I got tired of waiting for the full restore so I would go ahead once the version had been changed.

I have been doing that. I have used WinSCP to get into my iPhone many times. But I can't connect after I supposedly installed SSH into my jailbreaked 1.1.1.

BTW, thanks for your help!!

did you reboot your iphone after you installed the SSH components?

Yes, I did.

I'm starting over... I am losing my iPHUCing mind tho...

Posted by: Webnasty

Is it necessary to do the full restore each time you switch versions?

Posted by: Ishimaru

Why is "dottie" not working as the SSH password??? I keep getting "Access Denied". SSH is installed and working, but the password seemed to have changed for root.

*edit*
It's now "alpine"...

Make sure you are using SCP mode not FTP mode
also look at my instructions on where to install that file i put a / in there that shouldn't have been there it fixed a few hours ago

w00t, I've gone from a bricked phone to a working jailbreaked 1.1.1 phone

Posted by: richiesays

but not unlocked to make calls?

Posted by: PhoneLines

Im back to the step where I have rw access on the phone, but I can't seem to get ssh working. I instalelled the sshify-windows package, but keep getting a refused connection when I tried to connect. I did use alpine as the pw, but its not a wrong pw I am getting, just a non connection.....

So, I don't think SSH is installed correctly on the 1.1.1 phone. Any other ways to get this onto a 1.1.1 phone?

Posted by: ogxjason15

Hey, ive done all the steps up till I installed the SSH for 1.11....but it tells me to SSH into the phone...How would I do this if my phone is not activated? (No Wifi = NO IP address)

....hmmm..

Anybody? I've done all the steps up to installing the SSH. However, the Iphone is still in the Activation Screen, meaning I'm unable to get on wifi to actually SSH with an IP address....Anybody know?

I have 20 Iphones in front me of me I have to jailbreak

5. Congratulations, you're now back at 1.0.2. You'll need to get shell access
to move onto the next step. Since you have Installer.app right there,
just run the installer again. This time it should succeed. Now activate.

When it says Activate? How do i activate it? put lockdownd file into /usr/libexec? or using Itunes.....Doesn't say anything about that......I think this is probably the reason why my phone is still locked? Hmmm interesting

Posted by: AlteZza2k2

I just got through the jailbreak i must say, it was quite complicated and required work beyond the call of duty (quite a few times during the guide i needed to figure stuff out because what i had in front of me did not work with the guide). everything is working including AppTapp, phone functions (i use a cingular sim), and even the srolling springboard side to side.

p.s. dont follow the readme, if you guys check the iphone dev team rss they updated with this:

http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/in...Jailbreak_1.1.1

good luck

edit: i forgot to say, i do have the problem of only 35 megs showing up for available space in AppTapp

yes, after you get to the 300mb point and have finished all other tasks, remove the symlink via ssh'ing into your iphone:

rm /var/root/Media
mv /var/root/Media.old /var/root/Media

Reboot, and there is your missing space.

after the 1.1.1 upgrade, you can allow it to "restore" your data ... this is the screen with the image name/date of your last phone backup, not an "upgrade/restore" screen. the phone will activate itself at this point as well (if your using an att sim).

if you are missing hard drive space, you did not do the very last step of deleting that symlink, which is pointing your media to the root partition, and not the massive media partition:

(via ssh):

rm /var/root/Media
mv /var/root/Media.old /var/root/Media

if your on an att sim, then you do it via itunes.

if something else, then i'm sorry i have no clue, as i've not touched anything to do with unlocking

then reboot, and itunes should find it and activate/restore (DO *NOT* click restore, let itunes prompt you for a backup file to install)

i did all that, everything works great including my 7.3 gigs of space for ipod (which i have already resynched). my problem is with the space for Apps, which in AppTapp is saying i only have ~38 megs

i had to do the same thing with moving cp and mv and stuff.

as per the activation, you have to 2 choices, either check out the link from mypost where they link to a hacked up version of iasign for windows (not what i did) or use https://ookoo.org/iphone/iasign.php (what i did)

if you do the second method, dont use the pem provided on that site, use the one that comes with the jailbreak pacakge

Yeah i used the sites exe file....and now I have signal and can call out but its still in the Activation screen!! lol...it says Emergency Calls..but i can call anyone!...how do you put in the PEM from the jailbreak package? Do you have AIM/MSN?

hmmm..i can make and recieve calls on the Activation Screen!....Something has to be wrong...

So Summerboard isn't working, and while iSwitcher is technically working, it doesn't quite theme everything. Hopefully they can fix that soon. I dunno about ringtones yet, I'll try that tonight

i followed the mac section of the README for activation except where ever it said to use iasign, i used the exe. it has to be run twice so make sure you follow those steps to the T.

When i'm using the 1.02 lockdownd the phone doesn't detect??? i can't do the iAsign.exe when its not detected...

When using the 1.02 lockdownd...i get Signal, and able to call out..but in the activation screen.....The wifi gets cut off every time, and the phone doesn't detect on my computer!

When using 1.11 lockdownd...i get no signal and not able to call..also with activation screen....but the wifi stays connected and it is detected by the computer....

what seems to be the problem?

Posted by: ogxjason15

What lockdownd files are you guys using?

(iASign.exe --automatic iPhoneActivation_private.pem)

The 1.02 Lockdownd file

I get phone signal here, and am able to call out, but It is still on the Activation Screen saying i need to connect to itunes to activate.

Here is what it says when i copy over the 1.11 lockdownd

After killing the lockdownd to use the 1.11, i imeediately lose signal and still have the activation screen...

Any Ideas?

I have done this whole jailbreaking/activation 3 times already...same results.

Posted by: AlteZza2k2

i dont know many details about the process, just tried stuff till it worked. are you following this page? i did the activation part from the mac readme after the step where you apply the springpatch. to do the activation however, i did have to copy over some files from the bsd system like cp and killall.

Posted by: AlteZza2k2

for anybody who is confused about the space issue with installing apps, there is a post on modmyiphone forums which cleared this up for me. Turns out apps are stored on the same partition as the os on the phone (not the 7.3 gigs where the music and stuff goes) and since 1.1.1 is considerably bigger than 1.0.2, there is less free space after the update.

if anyone runs out of space, you can create a folder on /private/var (the 7.3 gig partition) and symlink that folder to /Applications, however, if you do this, make sure to give exec privileges to /private/var (edit the fstab) and copy over everything from /Applications before deleting that folder.

AppTapp will still report the free space from the OS partition, so you can just ignore that

Posted by: vandy1997

AlteZza2k2, how do you symlink the folder on /private/var to /Applications and which commands need to be added to the fstab. Also, where is the fstab located. Would you please add some specific instructions? Then we can copy the .app files to the new folder under /private/var and delete all the .app files under /Applications and the /Applications folder as well? Thank you in advance for the assistance.

Posted by: AlteZza2k2

although i will link to the post on modmyiphone, if you are not comfortable with what i wrote, i dont suggest you try this method. i should also note that i did not personally use it as i dont need any more space for apps, however, the person who explains it has used it on his itouch and the procedure is very reasonable.

here is the thread:
http://modmyiphone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9521

AlteZza2k2, it seems to work. Thank you! I have a new issue - using 1.1.1 - installed some apps, including SummerBoard and Customize. Neither one seems to work with 1.1.1 at this point. The problem is that the dock moved to the top of the screen on the phone (i.e., on top of the top row of icons on the SpringBoard). Has anybody come across this? And, more important, does anybody know how I can reverse this? Right now, the dock (with the Phone, Mail, Safari, and iPod icons) appears on top of the top row of icons and the space in which the dock should appear is black (although that space is still not occupied by any other icons).

The SummerBoard/Customize problem has been widely publicized on these boards. The UI in 1.1.1 is apparently different than 1.0.2.

To reverse it you need to uninstall Summerboard and wait for a new version to be released

However, that said, your Springboard (home) screen will scroll left to right in 1.1.1 so Summerboard isn't quite as critical. You can still swap themes with iSwitcher

iSwitcher for me wont change the wallpaper. I read that you install Summerboard make its theme to iSwitcher and that will work. But it didn't for me :\

It will - in 1.0.2.

I don't think that will help because of the UI changes in 1.1.1.

I know it'll work in 1.02, but I'm using 1.1.1.

Which was my point

it doesn't work in 1.1.1, only 1.0.2

Summerboard does not work in 1.1.1 until they do some sort of update

Could you elaborate on that last part (referring to copying over files like cp and killall)? I am having issues, and I think that is where it lies as it does not understand those commands.

If iPhone 1.1.1 is too complex for you to jailbreak in, wait until Oct 20-30th for an automated installer.

I get it jailbroke, with SSH running and all. I just am having trouble executing the rm, mv, and killall commands in WinSCP.

ya, this was annoying. i downloaded the BSD_Base files and manually used iphoneinterface (putfile) to upload those files. you also have to chmod 755 them to execute

Extract all the files to the root directory / and overwrite them with the current bin folders.

I had the same problem at first...but I found another website that told me to do just that...worked good.

Here is a link to install BSD

I got it to activate.....silly me ...i was using the (Patched Lockdownd 1.02 file from PACAY)...i downloaded the original one..and it worked like a charm....I didn't need to run it a second time....when i did...I would lose signal...

Lastly, how do i get Youtube to work? It says "You must first connect to iTunes with an Internet connection to enable YouTube"

Nevermind on the Youtube part Nothing google.com can't do!

I just have to say that I LOVE the contact icon on the home screen. That is the A HUGE IMPROVEMENT! I often times want to read notes on a contact, but you have to go through the phone, and then next time you pull up the phone it is on that contact - NOT ANYMORE!

Is there anyway to disable edge for the 1.11 firmware yet?

it's a native feature of the update.

Settings -> General -> Network

Turn Data Roaming OFF (That's EDGE functionality)

It is the best thing ever. You can place calls from there, but it functions like a separate app. I just modified the .plist in springboard.app - it was really easy. I found the instructions on the modmyiphone wiki. Someone posted a link earlier in the thread to the jailbreak walkthrough on modmyiphone, and this can be found by following the links at the end of he tutorials. After you jailbreak, it links you to the how to ssh page, which links you to the bsd world page, which links you to the how to get installer page, which links you to the how to patch the springboard page, which links you to the how to add contacts icon to the springboard page! Whew, long sentence and lots of typing there, but I am sure that is the order. Just find any one of those tutorials, and click on links at the bottom until you get to the end. I would post a link, but I cannot cut and paste on my iPhone ;-) Again, it is in the wiki on modmyiphone.com. I will post the link when I get to a computer.

For those of you that don't care about the 1.11 Firmware, and would like to just unlock the 1.02 by Downgrading the Baseband...

Here is what you do:

1. Connect phone to dock, and hold down home button and power button for about 10 seconds or until the screen goes black.
2. Now release the power button but continue holding the home button. After about 10 seconds the computer will detect the iPhone in restore mode, and iTunes should tell that the phone needs to be restored.
3. Hold down SHIFT key (Windows) when clicking the Restore button, and select the 1.02 firmware (don't ask me where to get it).
4. Let the restore complete and ignore the error at the end. (Should be error 1013).
5. Now your phone should show the "Please Connect to iTunes" screen with the yellow triangle.
6. Run AppTap to jailbreak your phone - it will restore it to a working 1.0.2 firmware it even though you will get an error at the end. Just dismiss the error and quit the installer.
7. Run AppTap again to actually install the installer.app. It should successfully complete. Keep rerunning AppTap if it doesn't work the first time - it may take a few tries.

Downgrade basedband
1. Use PACAY to Activate phone
2. Use Ibrickr 0.8 to install below items
Anysim 1.02

3. Connect Wi-fi and use installer (iphone panel) to install bleow
Community sources
BSD Subsystems
OpenSSH

4. Use ibrickr 0.8 to put below files to /usr/bin (all files in “reflash” folder)
ICE03.14.08_G.eep
ICE03.14.08_G.fls
Bbupdater
Ieraser
Secpack

5. Setup autolock to never(General->Auto-Lock->never)
6. Use Putty connect to iphone,(select SSH),check general->wi-fi->look for ip address.
Username:root password:dottie
cd /usr/bin/ Enter
chmod 755 ieraser bbupdater Enter
launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist Enter
./ieraser
./bbupdater –f *.fls –e *.eep
launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist Enter
7. Run Anysim from Iphone panel
8. Restart Phone

I just put a T-Mobile card in it, and it appears to be unlocked! Please no flaming, this is what I did, and it worked.

Someone please confirm if this method works.
