IPSF Users and 1.1.1

So if I understand this correctly (and I hope I do) people who unlocked there phones with iphonesimfree can update to 1.1.1 and still have an unlocked phone? The only problem is the phone still needs to be activated. So it seems to me we ipsf users have two options pertaining to upgrading (this is obviously in addition to just NOT upgrading):

A) Upgrade to 1.1.1, put the original AT&T sim in and activate the phone. Once activated, cancel your newly created account, pop your T-Mobile (or other "foreign") sim card in and have an unlocked phone running 1.1.1.

B) Use the newly developed jailbreak/activation method (I think I read of a new activation work around) and have a stock 1.1.1 running on T-Mobile.

I hope this makes sense, I have been typing this all day on my iPhone as I have had frequent interuptions. Does anyone (Red Setter maybe) use an iphone that was unlocked with ipsf om 1.1.1?

Sorry for the long post.

My phone is unlocked with IPSF but, having bricked one phone for the cause, I've been reluctant to try upgrading this one.

The dev team has posted the activation, unlock and jailbreak for 1.1.1 but ONLY WORKS IF YOU HAVE UNLOCKED WITH IPSF OR TURBOSIM METHOD, go figure:S

the question is... will the SAME thing happen in the future, when a new firmware apears ? or now they have done things rihgt ? :/

(same thing = unlocking with a paid method, you are safe, unlocking with free stuff = GG ibrick)

As far as I know, activation only works on ATT sims. So even if you jailbreak and are IPSF unlocked, your phone will still be unusable as there is no non-ATT sim activation yet, that I know of.

But yes, theoretically you can jailbreak, activate, and use the phone if you IPSF unlocked. Those with anySim will need to wait.

EDIT: Hrm... the new methods also activate the phone on non-ATT sims? Confusing now with so many solutions out.

I personally would wait a few weeks until everything gets ironed out and a gui is implemented to make things clear and easy. Who knows if the dev team will **** it up again.

Ok so let's see if I understand:

*I have an unlocked iphone 1.0.2 with IphoneSim Free method.

I can upgrade to 1.1.1 and the phone will be unlocked, but it will ask to be activated. So I have to use the dev team work around (http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.p...m_1.0.2_Windows)

What I don't understand is the first option given above about creating an account then canceling, how is that done? through itunes?

dude, 1.1.1 is a pain in the A-***!!
stick with 1.0.2 till the sky becomes clear again
