Ive read many post and keep hearing peoples different sides to the answer to th e question and dont wanna get stuck. But if i do the official 1.1.1 to 1.0.2 jailbreak from www.modmyiphone.com will it or will it not disable my phone from making and getting calls. I hear people saying at if you do the downgrade it will turn your phone in a over priced IPod Touch. Also if i do the 1.1.1 to 1.0.2 will i be able to do future upgrades. i dont wamma unlock my phone i just wanna be able to add ringtones and NES games etc.

Use the search button. It's been answered over and over and over again.

Ah what the heck.
If you don't plan on unlocking and with to downgrade 1.0.2 to get back 3rd party apps, you can revert safely without bricking your phone (unless you really can't follow direction).
It only turns it into an iPod touch if you wish to use a SIM that's not the original iPhone ATT card.

So, to sum it up for you in order to avoid any confusion:
Downgrading 1.1.1 to 1.0.2
Original ATT iPhone sim - Everything works 100% including the phone and 3rd party apps.
Any other sim that's not the original ATT iPhone sim - The phone portion of the iPhone does NOT work, 3rd party and everything else works fine.

I can give you a whole story on why and how the baseband is related to that but you're gonna have to search and read a bit for that one.

Good luck

Thanks my friend. i know its been answered but as many times as its been answered i heard just as man people saying opposite and that it will cause various negative things so i just wanted to be 100% sure thats all. I search and never wanna be a pain but when you have 40 people saying one thing and 40 people saying another its kinda hard on who to believe and honestly dont wanna mess up my $400 phone ya know.

That's very understandable.
Just keep in mind that regardles of how proven a system or how well you follow it, there is always a slight chance of damaging your device when it comes to homebrewed alterations to electronic devices; hardware or software.

Do as much research as you can before you do anything you might regret at the end.

What about if after you go to 1.0.2 and modify it and then decide for some odd reason you want to go back to a stock 1.1.1 firmware? Or waht about when 1.1.2 comes out?

If you need or decide to go back (forward?) to 1.1.1 after downgrading, you can do so without any problems. It exactly as updating to 1.1.1 for the first time (aside from the already flashed baseband). Same goes for further updates.

save the file, the file is unless you have the actual file as you will need the file when you get to the iphone restore screen in your itunes
