Help with HTC TyTN II

Okay, so I bought an HTC TyTN II on Monday and have been trying to set it up flawlessly since. I hope there is someone who can help me do a few small things that I just don't understand.

1) When I connect to the network (a.k.a turn on my phone or the phone in comm manager) it says my provider is not in the list or something like that, then it takes me to the connection settings screen. I am not sure what to do here to avoid this in the future, so my first question is; What do I put in the connection settings.

2) Ever since I tried setting up the connection settings which was last night, I can't view my contacts unless I am connected to Wi-Fi nor can I get my home screen working properly. Does anyone know why?

3) How do I set up wap?

4) How do I know when I am surfing the web via Wi-Fi vs GPRS/EDGE?

5)If my sim card is over 5 years old should I get a new one?

6) when I put my sim in my k800i it automatically copies the sim contacts to the phonebook. Not in the case of the HTC. But i figured out how to copy the contacts, and ofcourse now they are all a mess. This is a 2 part question. What program can I use on my PC to sync my contacts and fix them all on the PC then sync back with phone? Also how can I make it so that I dont see my SIM contacts in the contacts screen?

7) I downloaded a movie in h264 format and it works on my PC but not the TyTN, what do I have to do to wacth movies properly?

I know this is a huge list of questions, but I have searched everywhere on how to do these things, and i am baffled. Espescially by why the Wi-Fi is needed all of a sudden to view contacts etc.

This is my first WM phone and so far it is discouraging me from future purchases. I feel lke this phone has unlimited potential, but am so unfamiliar with WM that I feel like returning this phone already.

I hope somone or many people can help me get this over with. I would appreciate greatly.

Thank You in advance.

You did not say what carrier you are with? Also you will need a 3g sim card if your with ATT i Know for sure. When I did mine it was auto set up. So I think you need to post some addtional info.

Whoops I see you are with Fido and unfortunately I know nothing about them. I hope someon else can help. Sorry

These folks are an excellent resource. Register, research and perhaps make a contribution to some of the many developers contributing here.

pretty sure all my numbers were automatically loaded into the phone's "contact" option as soon as i threw the sim in.

I don't believe you can use the TyTN II with either Fido or Telus ...only Rogers up here in Canada. Are you still with either Fido or Telus, and live up in Canada? If you are with Rogers, then all you should have to do is put in the SIM Card they gave you, and you should be good to go.

Fido is owned by rogers, and fido is gsm...even before they were bought out by rogers

I am using the TyTN II on Fido. They were bought by Rogers but they are still a different company and its all GSM so there is no problem with using Fido. They 3G coverage is actually very good.

It's still the same GSM network.

Do a hard reset - maybe it will pull the settings automatically. I am using T-Mobile Germany with my TyTn II and it found everything in a matter of seconds. Good luck.
