is there any reason not to get the refurb?

Posted by: OffTheHorseCEO

btw im talkin premier pricing, on a plan i dont plan on extending and supposedly im not eligible for reates

Posted by: MakaveliReturns

It's a nice device.

Is it worth a 2 year extension to your contract though? I'd go for the Tilt. It's much nicer than the 8525.

.

no as n dont get it or no as in no reason not to get it?

Posted by: jlczl

No reason not to get it. It's an awesome deal on a great device without extending your contract.

My experience with HTC's refurb devices has been less than stellar to say the least...

but maybe its different on the GSM side. I know that I personally won't ever pay money for a refurbished phone after going through 2 refurbished 6700s in the course of less than two weeks.

hhmmmmmmm...but its only 75 bucks....

Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-I607/I607FG1 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 320x240) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

I think that i am going to jump on this i am tired of not having a signal in buildings on the blackjack.

I have bought more than a dozen refurbed phones form at&t and EVERY SINGLE ONE has been as perfect as a brand new one minus the original retail box.

I agree, pick up the refurb. I just did even though it's $100 for me.

Q: Why/how is the Tilt so much better than the 8525? I compared both on phonescoop.com the TILT only had way more built in memory available than the 8525... both have HSDPA.. quad band gsm... oh, the tilt has a 3mp camera... what else? I just did not see anything wondrous to warrant a new device release and warrant the much higher price.

I think you're asking in the wrong thread but a major feature you missed was GPS.

-the processor is quoted as the same speed, but the device is set up so that more of that speed is prioritized correctly
-both have hsdpa, but look closer, tilt has hsdpa 3.6 to 8525's hsdpa 1.8, 3.6 is way faster afaik
-youre right on the quadband gsm/tri band wcdma
-youre also right in the cam, 3mp to the 2mp
-as stated in another post, gps
-wm6 preloaded
-newer, people pay for novelty, just look at the iphone, its not so revolutionary but people paid for it

i think ill get the refurb

You should. I got one back in June and I haven't regretted it. It was just like new, minus retail packaging like jlczl said. I've had no problems with it. Sometimes I forget it was a refurb. Only thing I don't like is that it's Cingular branded haha Other than that, perfectly good

I just had my 8525 replaced under warranty. The CS rep said that I will get a refurb or new depending on stock. How can I tell if I got a refurb?

Posted by: jst51

Refurb's usually arrive in a white box.

I just got my 8525 refurb. today. It's in mint condition and just upgraded to WM6 without issues. I sold my 8125 for $80 so for $20 more I think it was an excellent investment.

Don't know if I would spend the 75 bucks hoping for better signal. Anyone else have the carrier you use?

Posted by: scspurk

Just did an add-a-line on my familytalk account and did the premier 8525 refurb for $100. As far as I can tell the unit is brand new. I could see no evidence of any kind of wear or usage in the unit. My gut feeling is that the unit was purchased just before the Tilt came out and was probably returned by the previous owner inside the buyers remorse period.

It's going to be my 14 year old daughters first phone. Main requirements - big screen for Bubbles and keyboard for texting. I "think" she can live without the gps on the Tilt.

You're a brave person for putting that phone in the hands of a 14 year old. But I agree, I can't find any signs of use at all. This was my first refurb unit so I scanned it over with a fine tooth comb in an attempt to find out why it was refurbed... and the only thing I could think of is they ran out of OEM boxes.

Yeah, most have ATT without an signal problems. I have already made the jump to a new 8525. I do not regret it one bit.

Just curious, how are you all getting this for $75? When I look at the price for a Refurbished 8525 on AT&T's site it shows as being $149 for me. If I could get this for $75, I think I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Posted by: RabidDogBoy

Premier = $99.

minus $25 for some of us after you add a plan = $74!

Ahhh, ok. I guess since I'm not premium I'll just have to pay the $149...but I got a coupon in my mail shortly after saving a cart for $25 off. I think it expires in a few days though, so I guess I need to decide soon!

Thanks
