Is this a good idea?

Trading my Blackjack, with all the originals plus a leather case and a 1gb card, + a DS Lite plus 11 games(10/11 of them are good) for an iPhone?

Posted by: jfandem

Getting an iPhone is a good idea no matter what...lol jk but I think it sounds like a good idea for real. Have fun with it!

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

No I mean Value wise. I know getting the iPhone is a good idea , but the value of the stuff plus the blackjack is unlocked.

Posted by: iPhone Owner

Your still young, stay with your phone and video games, use that money and buy more video games

iPhone is for grown folks LOL

But ya that sounds like a equal trade if the iPhone is brand new sealed

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

HAH. I forgot to laugh. . . I want to be in the iPhone hacking scene like I was with the PSP Scene(Since the 05's but had to get rid of it this year). I wan the iPhone too so I can listen to music and not have a huge array of stuff in my pockets. So I ask again is this a good idea?

Your 14 right ?

You will be laughing after you trade it and see how the iPhone scene is really like, remember it will be cool to your friends for acouple of days then no more hype

The iPhone hacking scene aint all that you think it is, the phone sucks if you dont have constant WiFi or EDGE connection FYI

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

I do. . At my ma's house I have wifi, and at my dads house 3G(where there is 3G there is edge).

EDGE cost alot of money well atleast where I am at

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Iphone data plan? My monthly bill is 100 dollars, 1350 min and media max. It will be the same with the iphone. My bill has been 100 dollars since I joined AT&T Wireless. My mom says thats my max bill so this will work out for me.

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Opps, I edited it. So read that .

Posted by: iPhone Owner

This is my estimate of the trade value

iPhone 8GB brand new = $400+tax
iPhone 8GB used = $300-$350 (Apple sells refurbished for $350)
Used Blackjack = $200-$250
Used DS Lite with 11 games = $200

So your package is worth $400-$450 max I would say

Did you find a buyer yet? Its a good trade on your part, but IMO, i think its gonna be a bit hard finding a dude into handheld systems and cellphones. You might be able to find a deal just to trade your blackjack+cash, or sell your stuff separately then combine the profits to buy the iphone.

Posted by: superman17

if i was you I wouldn't make that trade, I really don't think its worth it. One your 14 and already have a great phone. Yeah the iPhone is cool but it has flaws. If I were you save your money and get version 2.0 when its available and keep playing with your vedio games

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Its someone from here. Also its new he says. I will say his name once I traded.

Posted by: ipodlover77

are you sure its in perfect working order? Did he send you the picture and what not? You have to be careful you dont get scammed. Make sure he doesnt send a bricked phone.

Yep, thats why I made this thread.

Posted by: iPhone Owner

I would say that its a good trade if you have the DS Lite just collecting dust for awhile

I repeat again, the iPhone isnt as hype as you think it is. You will be bored of it after acouple of weeks and you will just be using the phone and maybe ipod feature and if it ends up this way then its a bad trade

Selling them separately would get you more then the iPhone price and you can then buy from AT&T or Apple

We all use every cool 3rd party apps available but even that it gets boring after a while

Make sure he sends you pics with it on, ask for the serial and lcd panel numbers. Also read up on all the flaws and issues and which iPhone is good and which is bad. Do your home work on the iPhone before you buy is important to not get ripped off.

If the phone is not brand new then I dont think this trade is worth it

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

I have been reading up with all the flaws and issues. I have been reading about how that there is alike an number that you can tell if its week 39 or 30something that you can tell the OS version. A lot more things. I have been posting here most of the time.

Posted by: Crazyglue71

i wish we had gadgets like this when i was 14
Cell phones were worth thousands of dollars and they were bigger than a fully packed suitcase
the closest of coolest gadget was a vic 20 lol
if you can go for it and get it

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Yea, I was just lucky I won 1000 bucks in 2002(got a 200 dollar phone mom took the rest. . .) or else I wouldn't be here on hofo.

The main issue to watch out for is the LCD Panel ID, make sure that you dont get a bad one. Search the forum and you will see a thread about it

If any of you are looking in Tito's feedback.. The feedback I left him in his feedback isn't for the iPhone he is gonna trade, it was for a Nokia n75 that he sold to me.

Well just to be safe post the serial number and LCD panel id number when he tells you it and post the pics and then we will tell you if its a good deal or not

The guy might want to sell it because its either have the bad panel or is screwed in a way or he just dont like it

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

He lives by me and happened I had a N75 and I sold it to him, and I used that money to put in my bank acnt. Plain and simple.

Post the serial number when you know it

1.1.1 can be hacked so no worries there but the panel id you have to worry about

The serial number will also tell you if its 1.0.2 or 1.1.1

just curious, but u arent getting the iphone from the person u sold a n75 too correct? Anyways, like iphone owner said, the love affair is gonna wear off. In a couple of weeks ur gonna get sick of the edge speeds (coming from a 3g phone), and the awkwardness of working it with one hand. But other then that, its an alright phone. Nothing special though.

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Yea, I think the guy is on his way home because he is not responding. He was at work when I was talking to him and he was responding with in 1 min.

Nope, someone else. Also I love the iphone. I love my blackjack too, I've had it since June.

Its a 1.0.2, and He sent me a pic. I am waiting for the serial now.

Cool, its brand new and sealed correct ? sealed means the box is sealed with factory seal

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Yea. It is

Posted by: thraven233

Hey Tito, I'm 15 and trust me, you are going to love your iPhone. As with all phones, the love affair will end and you will want to change. I changed phones about every 2-4 months, but I can see myself using this phone for a VERY long time.

People thinking 14 and 15 year old's don't know anything about phones or think we need to use the "free phones" are out of their minds

Coming from a blackjack, you might miss some of the PDA functionality and other random features that apple decided to leave out of the iPhone, but all in all it's a good idea and a fair trade. Good luck with your phone!

Whos to say that hes not using it for what its intended for. It is a multimedia device, he probably uses the deyboard for some heavy texting, and he most likely uses the camera for taking pics, and probably the media player as well. I know that phones like the blackjack can do much more, but your definatly not the one to say that he doesnt need a certain type of phone because of his age. I am 16 and i have a blackjack and an iphone, and i use both of them for email, texting, pics, and tons of apps.

Where did I say he cannot have a specific kind of phone? Stop misinterpreting and re-read my posts. I dont care if he's 14 or 44, it's his choice. I'm 20, and I own an E90, suffice to say, I dont use it's full potential either, so I dont see what your point is. I asked by saying "Out of curiosity".
Read before you post next time.

Listen. I am nearly 16 and Tito, it is quite the risk buying a phone you have never seem. It could be bricked, broken, etc., and even though if it looks fine it may not work correctly.

About the iphone's potential, I consider myself a heavy user of the iphone. I manage two websites, one for a family member and one for an originization, sell things frequently on ebay, and send emails about every 10 minutes. And what annoys me is all my friends who say, "Can you get on Myspace!?!!" Well of course, but it does other things. So I feel I am using mine to its potential compared to others.

So the question lies, do you need an iPhone? Is it worth it for you?

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Its a BNIB. Yes its worth it for me.

I feel the same way! I am 17, and i run a small online business. I basically do a whole bunch of stuff with wholesale and selling and so on. I have owned several smart phones over the last few years. I do believe I use my smart phones to their full potential. Not only do I do my online business but I am very involved at school, and I have a part time job. I use my iPhone to keep track of my schedules, do all my constant emailing, keeping in contact, and so on. I am constantly do business stuff on my phone, and everytime one of my classmates sees my iPhone, there exclamation is "Is that one of those apple phones? OMG! That is sooo awesome! Can you go on myspace?!"

Ahh, it gets frusterating but I guess thats what I get.

In reguards to the original question if it hasnt already been answered is - no. You probebly should just sell all of it seperatly and buy the iphone with that money. Because all that is worth more then 400 dollars.

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

LOL, I hate when people ask "OMG, can it go on myspace?"!

My dad said no because there is no guarantee he will send it once I send out the DS(first so the dude knows I not just trying to scam him). Well I could get 110 for all my 11 DS games. Sell the ds for 120 and I am set!

Sell em piece by piece, and then just walk into Apple store and pick one up yourself.

He meant to sell your DS Lite and games sperately piece by piece not the phone, your phone you can sell last

Yea, huh. Well how much total for everything all together?

Posted by: Bigphun73

Just sell the DS and the games now. Use that money and a credit card to pay for the difference on the iPhone and pay the CC off when you sell the BlackJack. I would go to an Apple store to buy it so that you can are garaunteed service if there is a problem with it. I just bought mine and I took it in a day later for the negative black problem.

There is no set price because you aint selling to a store but to people and everybody has a different price

Do your research on prices and you will have a qlue on how they are worth used

You have to think of it this way, if your selling for a price that you wouldnt even buy it yourself then no one will buy it

I dont know about $240 for your DS Lite package but its worth a shot. I would probably pay $150-$180 for them

Not by mailing. Face to Face is different.

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Well, I sold my Ds and the SNES games. I have 220!!(the guy bought my DS for 180)!! Now I might get a iPhone to night!! WOOT!! This guy wants my blackjack and 100 bucks for the iphone! He lives close by me so!! WOOT. See you soon community!!

$180 was the price that I said I would pay for it

Remember to make sure which iPhone you are getting, you dont want the negative black issue or one with dead pixels

I personality wouldnt get a used phone because most to of the time theres something wrong with it

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Well, the dude wants money. Most of the people sell it because of that reason. Really lol, I wanted 230 because thats 11 games and a leather case that fits the DS some head phones and a carrying case that fits it perfectly and has many compartments for stuff! I kept the microfiber cloth I had XD!

Thats what they all say, would you say its broken if you were selling something broken ? thats why you can never trust used stuff not with things like an iPhone when it comes to people online even if your picking it up

LOL a microfiber cloth is only $.50-$1
