right now on my home screen, there's the text messaging icon that looks like a postcard flashing on the screen. i can't receive messages, as well as there's no inbox, outbox, sent items or any of those functions available on my phone. the sim card wasn't full, and whenever i sent out messages they would fill up as usual, but i can'ts eem to get the text message function on my phone to function correctly? can nebody help me?

well since i can't edit the previous post~ i'll make an update
the flashing unread text message icon meant that my sim card was too full. so that takes care of that
i took the current sim card from the s40 and swapped it with another sim from a nokia 5190. on the 5190, the text messaging capabilities work fine. i sent messages to each other, and on the 5190, with the s40 sim card everything worked fine. on the s40 with the 5190 sim card, there were still problems where nothing would show up and i can't delete anything.
so in conclusion, i think it's the phone itself (s40) that's causing the problem, not the sim card or nething else. how should i fix it?
i was thinking about resetting the memory (i could save the phone book by sending it to a friend's s40 and then sending it back into my phone after it's been reset)
would that work?
thanks for reading through my post and helping me out...hopefully u aren't bored

Before doing a firmware upgrade on my s40 I did a reset that helped temporarily but I never had any issues with my s40 in regards to sms with it. I did have your problem with a different fone tho and resetting it helped so you may wanna try that.
What firmware version is on your S40? Check the Siemens Goodies Stickie thread there is a link there for a great site with alot of helpful information in regards to the Siemens s40.
