Im getting soo close to buying the iphone, my biggest concern is that I really depend on my Blackjack with windows live for directions since I don't' have nav in my car. Of course google maps does that but windows live goes farther and finds business's nearby a current location ie. hotels bars/clubs restaurants etc and live traffic reports can google maps do that as well?

Yes, google has traffic and local business search as well. I use both all the time. I assume the iPhone google maps has similar features to the computer version.

Can it do everything just like live???

Windows Live is much more useful that Google Maps, since google maps is pretty basic.

I like wls better too. But gmaps will suffice.

Google Maps is OK... not great but just ok. I miss Windows Live though. Many more options than gmaps but it still does an ok job.

I came from the dash ad have tested out both. The one thing i love on live search is the ability to search by category instead of typing in what you want.

The great thing about google maps on the iPhone is the great user experience. Easily zoom in ad out, find directions, link to websites and phone numbers for business', etc.

That is my experience

windows live aint all that great. my address doesnt even show up on there.

Keep in mind that you can also use the web version of Windows Live for category searches. You obviously can't integrate it with Google Maps but it's still nice when you're on the go.

Windows Live is amazing for bird's eyes view...

bird's eyes view >>>>>>>> Google satellite view

But that's on a PC. Can't say I've tried it on the iPhone yet.

I prefer Windows Live for category searches. As someone else mentioned, it's just a lot easier to click down through Restaurants - Ethic - Mexican than to have to type it in. Ditto for Locksmiths, etc.

WLS also has the built-in Movie search with mapping, etc. Can do similar with iPhone web sites.

But those are all kind of minor. You get used to whatever is possible.

Never thought of that, can anyone comfirm that http://maps.live.com works on the browser? I really want to get this phone!

Just tried it. I moved from a Q to iphone, really liked WL apps. Live search worked, only kink I found is you can't tap on the locations flag like in WM.

Ooo. They just upped the ante.

Voice activated Live Search.

They showed a demo where you press a key and can even say both the business and location:

"Cheeseburger in Paradise near Honolulu Hawaii" and it asks you to confirm each of the location and business name recognitions by hitting a key, then shows the entry.

Apparently your voice request is sent off to the newly acquired TellMe servers. We used to use those for our own in-house demos. Nice stuff.

I love google maps. I have never use wls, but maybe that's the reason why I find google maps to be so awesome. I've used TeleNav maps also and like google maps a lot better. The iPhone is very user friendly and I have never gotten lost with google. It's still your choice though.
