Hey guys (I think this for you MAC users),

The new version of iNdependence is released, and it works with 1.2.2!!! I'm not a mac user myself, but if anyone uses mac here, does this mean that you can install IPSF or any other 3rd party software on 1.1.1?

I'm assuming you mean it works with 1.1.1, since it's version 1.22

And as for installing 3rd party apps: I'm going to give it a try later, but I'd assume so. I was able to use the older version when I jailbroke my phones and it recognized the 1.1.1 jailbreak. It looks (after initial examination) like it has several nifty abilities, including a somewhat automated restore capability

Is the for PC or Mac? I would check, but I can't now.

Hey Red, have you had a chance to play around with the util a bit more? I'm in the midst of installing Leopard on my VM, so it'll still take some time...

Oh, and not to mention I'm waiting for my iPhone

Off topic: Leopard? Where'd you get that? or are we talking a beta release?

Back on topic: I loaded it, and looked at it, but since currently all of my phones are jailbroken and updated I didn't really want to play too much and undo that. Maybe tonight I'll through one of the phones to the wolves and see how it works :P

ok, the long awaited version 1.2.2 is out. This version works with phone firmware 1.1.1, although the activation/jailbreak process is a bit more complicated now. The documentation has been moved from the README file into the Help menu within the application itself, so please read through that before asking questions. Enjoy...

Yep, BETA - It's not looking too good now though....could just be VMWare not liking it...still crunching away.

this is the easiest guide to upgrade to 1.1.1 and activate
1. Download iNdependance 1.2.2 from http://code.google.com/p/independence/
2. When you open iNdependance on the menu bar click help
3. Follow instructions!!!
Thats right, its THAT SIMPLE!!!
I just tried it, took me 8 minutes and everything works!!!
Mac ONLY!!!
Must be unlocked with IPSF (iPhoneSimFree) unlock

Also if you have 1.1.1 I have great news, you now have a file browser so you can add files to your iphone and take off files from the iphone.
all you need is iNdependance 1.2.2 (http://code.google.com/p/independence/) and iFuntastic 3.5.5 (http://www.iphonealley.com/disknode/....html?download) or even iBrickr (Windows) (http://cre.ations.net/creation/ibrickr)
Once you have finished upgrading and activating with iNdependance you simply open iFuntastic or iBrickr and explore your iPhone!!!
Hope this helps so we can mess about with the file system without the need for any terminals!!!
Enjoy!!!

I got an error "Host Verification failed" and later ".ssh/known_hosts not recognized" when preparing the iphone for an upgrade using independence 1.2.2 to upgrade after the downgrade and activation. Anybody suggest a work around for this??

There is no work around on the dev site yet, but I didn't get the error last time after getting it twice. I did not change the passwords on the pre 1.1.1 install of ssh las time. I now have an unjailed and activated 1.1.1 phone. I am about to reinstall ssh and do the post update. Wish me luck. This is the farthest I have gotten.

KD

Update: Damn; just got the error during the post 1.1.1 upgrade. so close.

Update 2: I hit not to the question if I wanted Independence to try and fix it. It then said post upgrade successful and says I have an unjailed 1.1.1 phone. Ok, now how do i tell for sure since I am complete noob to Mac and iphone.
