Spotty wifi with Linksys WRT54G

So here's my setup at home. I'm an AT&T DSL customer, with an unlocked iPhone on T-mobile using a Blackberry data plan.

My Seamens modem does all the PPPoE data link, while my Linksys WRT54G router handles the wireless with automatic DHCP. The problem is my iPhone refuses to make a connection with the router, even with all the wireless security off.

I've gone so far as to 'Forget this Network' on my phone, and reseting my router all together to no avail and even resorting to the one click security setup.

Here's the catch. I can access other public wifi hotspots just fine. But for some reason all of a sudden I cannot connect to Linksys brand routers. What's the deal yo, any thoughts? Some help would be appreciated.

FWIW, my iPhone (locked and unmodified) works fine with my Linksys WRT54GS at home. (Not the same model as yours, I know, but it is the same brand and they are similar models).

Have you checked to see if there's a firmware update for your router? Updating to the latest firmware from Linksys *might* help.

ranphi, it is a very good idea for what it's worth.

Suddenly it struck me. Take the sim card out and magically it compelled a connection via wifi. It's becoming quite the strange situation with my iPhone that I can recall this happening at least two times before. Looks like I'm going to be carrying around a paper clip in my wallet, much like I used to do when I owned a palm pilot.

Wow. That's very odd that it can make the wifi connection if you take the SIM card out of the phone. Strange!

Good luck if you decide to upgrade your router's firmware. Hope it works for ya!

This is not iPhone related, but with the Linksys WRT54G (no matter what model or version), you need to flash it with DD-WRT. WAY better firmware with LOTS more options and info.

Forget the Linksys firmware. DD-WRT is opensource, completely stable, and simply put, does SO much more.
