Ringtone and text message alert volume?

I've done a search and tried to find the answer to this.

Is there any way to increase the ringtone and text message volume? I swear I never hear any of my calls or messages when in a public place (like Starbucks).

did you upgrade to software version 1.1.1? the alerts are loud enough......

make a custom ringtone with lets say audacity...remove the bass from whatever tone you are making and then amplify it...upload it back to the phone with whatever proggy you like (ibrickr, iphonebrowser) and restart the phone...and booyah, you're good...my ringer is mad loud aswell as my text message alert via this method

GTPj: FFR is right. Since I am in Canada, I am using a unlocked iPhone on the Rogers Network using 1.0.2.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to try CyniKal.Mindset's method.

BTW: Am I the only one who thinks the sounds and alerts on this phone are too quiet? Maybe it's because I was previously using a Treo product (loud as hell sounds and alerts)? Doubt it, this thing is so quiet. Using the vibrate option is a must.

Does it matter where you live and upgrading to 1.1.1? An unlocked iphone in Canada or USA will still function the same?

My phone has never been hacked, or messed with... and I have the latest software. The ringtones and text message alerts are too damn quiet. There was no volume increases for me when I got 1.1.1

if you live in canada and unlocked the iphone before the 1.1.1 update you are not able to perform the update so yes it does matter and your iphone will be quieter.
